Feeling Poetic-Our House

Stickin' doors
and settlin' floors.
Termites that chew thru the wood,
the toilet you would love to flush
if only you could.
The roof is thin
and let's rain in.
Foundation has a crack
handyman's dream if you have the knack.
They said it was old
but I think that statement was bold.
I've seen younger dinosaur bones,
their ain't no keepin' up with these Jones'.
No wild sex
for the bedroom it wrecks.
The floor won't take the beatin',
the walls sway from the mistreatin'.
The hammer is callin' cuz
the front porch is fallin'.
It may be contrary
at times but it is only temporary,
Despite the mess
we are blessed!

  1. Love the poem. Unfortunately, I recognize in it some of the houses I've lived in.....

  4. Love it! With some houses it's either laugh or cry, so might as well immortalize in poetry!

    1. In this house some days are like that....looking forward to building new......kind of hate to destroy the character but it is scary when you have a 10lb dog walk across the floor and it vibrates! Time to go!
