Goat Pen Updates

Image
Sorry I am late with this post but got kind of busy today! After we got back from work out at the gym we started on the fence project in the pen. Had to baby proof it!! LOL! They figured out how to crawl through the big holes in the fence. I started the other day to get it done but did to much babysittin' to get anything accomplished. I am in love with these babies like no other! So happy God blessed us with two girls.....named them Shade and Sunshine. Had to take a quick break...making enchiladas tonite! So I was saying baby proofing the pen. We ended up using supplies we had available. Lots of chicken wire left so it has been applied. Then I put up 2x4 square wire between the buck and doe pen because the Little Man kept gettin his head stuck. Attention hound!! Mtn Man made doors for the shed too. It looks fabulous! He made a window up top so I could peek in when I want to. I love it! He used scraps and such from other projects and they turned out nice with...

Sunday Passage

I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man.  Eccl 3:12-13   Comments are BACK!!! Babies Are Here!!

Image
I am super excited!! Yesterday we went to Cape Girardeau to take care of business. Then went down to visit the Inlaws and niece/nephew who were visiting for spring break this last week. When we arrived home something looked different out in the goat pen. So we drove over to find that Snickers had twins by her side! I missed the whole thing by minutes.... I am so happy they are healthy girls...... Now most of ya know their pen is pretty far from the house which means no electricity out there. Last night the temps dropped below 30*. I was worried worried that they would not be warm enough. But in our defense we had shut the little hut up last night to keep them warm as possible. The other day I had put plastic up on the doorway and pulled it back out of the way for the arriving day. It came in useful yesterday. We put fresh hay in so they wouldn't be laying on wet hay all night. Took the gate off the outside pen and leaned it up against the doorway and strapped it up so they w...

Waiting Out The Storm

Image
Had a long night of worry worry worry!! Snickers was showing signs of good change yesterday. Then the storms came in with a purpose now! We ended up with 4" of rain overnight. Lightening was crazy and to boot high winds. So much so that I could feel the front wall of the house moving in my hands!!!  It is still a bit windy this morning and 42* so the windchill ??? It is dang cold compared to yesterday's 72*. We are looking for lows in the high 20's the next few nights. I have had my conversation with Snickers and explained that maybe she should "suck it up" until the nice weather is back. We shall see what happens I suppose..... I did scare myself last night though.... Goat pen in the distance...can you see it? There was a break in the storm so I decided I better go check on the girl. Well I looked on the radar to see how much of a break, it showed about 15-20 mins so I thought. I walked over there through the creek just got to her pen and the rain start...

18 Year Anniversary

Image
Not a wedding anniversary or the day I quit smoking anniversary or a job anniversary. This would be the death of my only two children's' anniversary. This day is a somber one for me.....I look back on the memories with happiness now instead of anger and despair. My babies are in a better place and some day I will get to be there with them! Change In The Air

Image
Good Morning Folks, I am not sure what the weather is like where you are but here this morning it is cold again! 38* and the wind is blowing. Usually means we have a weather front coming. Looking over the weather yesterday they are calling for severe thunderstorms which may or may not include tornado's. You guessed it, we are in the "season" once again. I did see one meteorologist who proclaimed that there has not been one tornado in the whole united states in the month of March thus far. Which is a rarity! He said he had never seen it.....let's hope this isn't the storm that makes up for the lack of tornadoes.   **************************************************************************** Mtn Man has an interview (2 day if everything goes right) come Thursday. We have been praying and praying....all together now everybody say a little one for us please. This new job would bring big changes for the two of us but it would also bring income to pay everything...

Making Memories

Image
Ok so yesterday we left the farm early about 7 am headed for the Inlaws house. We had been invited over for a luncheon and some fellowship. Mtn Man had to return his dads pickup and trailer so I followed in the FJ. When we arrived we said our hello's and they were off to empty the tiller off the trailer. Then they ran to town with trailer in tow to Cousin Dave's house to help him transport an older truck that was going to the shop at the high school. With no hitches they arrived back in a short time. We waited for the arrival of his cousins for a much needed visit! I told ya last week that Mtn Man's great uncle had died well his daughter (D) and her husband (P) who are about the folks age are the cousins in question. P gets so excited about things on the farm. They both are city folks and anything farm related is just a treat for them. MIL, bless her heart, made up a big meal for everybody with a little help from me. The guys built a campfire in the pit out front. We all ...

Sunday Passage

I can't believe we are almost one quarter into this year! Blows my mind how fast time is going.....yikes! I hear it gets even faster.... Ok today's scripture.....John 1:1-14 KJV   1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  The same was in the beginning with God. 3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11...

Quick Peek

Welcome New Friends......Take a look around and if any questions just holler (marye.masterson@gmail.com) love to hear from ya!! ******************************************************************************* I cannot remember if I told ya about moving the daffodils around. I have so many out front by the sidewalk that I wanted to move them to other places to live. Out by the teepee and the wet weather creek I moved some and in between the fruit trees. Oh and out back on the hill up from the deck. It took forever to get that many to move because the roots of the trees and the grass made for difficult digging. But I wanted to make a pathway with the daffodils because they are so thick. So I removed all that were in the way, really! So here are my pretties making their way in their new homes. TeePee and wet weather creek area...fruit trees to the right Up behind the back deck area...blue ribbon around red maple tree   I am so happy they like their new homes! I ...
