Sunday Passage

The Sun is Shining! And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. 2 Samuel 23:4 Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson

Multi Tasking

Image
You could say I am a "piddler", no not in the sense that I wet my pants but in the sense that I cannot just stick to one project at a time. I multi task all the time! Do a little beading, do a bit of writing, do a bit of laundry, gosh got hungry so make a bit of lunch, check the garden starts to see what's new in their beds, hit the hot tub, chat a bit with Mtn Man, wash a few dishes, sweep the floors, wipe down the lip of the toilet seat (pet peeve of mine), take a little walk outside when it is conducive to this kind of activity, play with Peanut for a bit as she demands it sometimes, read some blogs or my email, and when it is time, which sometimes can never be to early, have a totie or two in the evening. A "piddler"! I do finish projects some right away and others eventually. I wouldn't say I am a procrastinator just that some things take time like polishing a rock......it's rough at first but eventually it gets it's shine on! Copyright ...

Preparing

Image
I,  like many of you, are so ready to get my garden started outside. This weather is hindering me a little bit plus I am waiting on my soil results before I plant a thing. Calling on that tomorrow! So in the meantime, I have been busy preparing the crops to plant. Potatoes for instance, they came in the mail in paper bags and I laid out newspaper, cut potatoes as instructed and laid them out on the newspaper for up to 4 days to scab over to put into the ground. Checked on the other seeds I planted this past weekend and I already have some showing signs of growing! My laundry room is starting to look a lot like a greenhouse. :) Weather is changing once again......looks like we are to expect some moisture tonight and tomorrow. Hang in folks we are gonna see spring despite the weather....do hope the trees and flowers don't suffer to much. Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson

Postponed-:(

Image
Every year (not day, oops!) on this day is a special day for my household. This is the Anniversary of the death of my two "babies". Around 5:30 pm, 17 yrs ago both of my children, their daddy and stepmom were killed in Oregon heading to the coast for spring break camping trip. Hit by a drunk driver who was on his way home from work. http://victimsofadrunkdriver.blogspot.com/ Today we had marked this day to bury their urn, plant some flowers over in the pines that I had picked out but due to weather(snow flurries and wind chill of freezing) I have postponed it! Maybe this weekend it will happen. I have waited for a place of permanence to put this urn and all its memories that are inside. Their ashes are no longer in it but their are some trinkets and notes and things from everybody that will stay in the urn and will be buried. Their crosses that someone made for them are buried in our moving container so probably wont' get to them until a later date. Oh, well this to...

Slow Cooked Short Ribs in Wine (Addl' Gravy Recipe Added)

Image
Frozen Add frozen Ribs to Crock Finished Ribs I am a lazy cooker! Yes, I admit it! I love to cook but most times I am lazy with it. A lot of the time I accidentally get a tasty result! Just ask Mtn Man..... Anyhow, I am not good at remembering to or I should say haven't ever taken the time to train myself, to get meat out of the freezer the night before or the morning of or whatever. So I usually have something frozen I either have to defrost in the micro or cook the meat frozen. I started with (8) frozen beef short ribs at noon, put in the crock and added the following items: 2 Heaping Tablespoons of minced Garlic (Have a jar of this stuff on hand) 1/2 of a very large red onion, chopped 1 cup of Apple Cider 4 Cups of Giovanna Wine (Dry Blush Wine)(the rest was consumed) 3 Cups of Water 2 Tbls Monterey Steak Seasoning Leaving a little room at the top for the moisture to come out of the ribs. Put the lid on, Turned it on high and left it until 6 pm. Alth...
