I wanted to share this beautiful song! What have I been up to...well let's see....I finished canning the venison! The garden just keeps on giving...will be out in it today gathering the goods. Mowed the neighbors and the cemetery on this cooler day yesterday. I had to open up one of the jars I canned because I was curious! I packed the meat in those first jars and lost sleep over the fact that I may have stuffed them to full and they didn't get cooked through. Well I was happily wrong! And no I didn't feel any better for losing sleep! LOL! But I am pleased that the meat is cooked through and falls apart nicely!! Yes I do believe they will work for us this winter!! ***************************************************************************** Oh and on another note..... Peanut The Nut is back to her old self once again!! Thanks for checking on my girl everybody! Ps...she still hunts snakes! Love hearing from ya!!!! FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK TOO! https://www.fac...

The Simple Life

Image
I have been thinking about writing about the Simple Life! I find it interesting that people in the city think living out in the country is Simple ( easily understood or done; presenting no difficulty) . They probably are right. It is simple in the fact that we don't have to deal with "Nascar drivers" or grouchy people because they hate the idea that they have to report to a job they hate daily.  Or that they have to deal with screaming babies through a bedroom wall, blaring music, fighting parents, ambulance/police car noise, highway noise from cars and trucks rushing by, or gun shots ringing in the night. Life in a city is complicated on most levels. It is not simple! Country life can be complicated if you choose it to be. Depending on the place of dwelling whether it's a working farm, retired farm, country house, vacation spot or camping spot. They all can be complicated and trying if you choose it be. Most farmers you ask if they would have it any o...

Garden Goodies & Canning-Updated

Image
I finally was able to get out in the garden yesterday. Oh my goodness! I came out with a lot more than I thought was in there! Look for yourself I went to baggin up the jalapenos, okra and the green beans while I ate my only lemon cuke. So good! I put the squash in my bucket for eatin on later. I then sliced into the Sugar Baby watermelon! Oh it is sweet!!  Talkin about watermelon I had to go and look up when to pick them. I found this great video on Sugar Baby's. The tendril that is above the stem on the watermelon should be brown before picking the melon. It works! The roma tomatoes that filled my big bowl I had to do something with. I remembered seeing a post over at 5 acres and a dream on canning pizza sauce . I am on day one..started last night. Hopefully by tomorrow evening I will have the sauce in jars! Yeah! This morning I woke to sauce that was done....I turned it off and took the crock out of the cooler so it could cool! This cooked down to about a serving f...

Relaxing Monday

Image
Cute toes, right? New product that I have discovered...will share soon!   My Mtn Man fixed our hot tub for me. I have to say I am really HAPPY that he fixed it. My migraines have snuck back on me once again. My muscles get so tight in my shoulders that it cuts the blood off to my brain (medically diagnosed, Basilar Artery Damage) causing the migraines. Plus my limbs go to sleep or most of the time they are half asleep. Getting in to that HOT water and soak plus the jets it works wonders. When my body hurts a lot sometimes I get in it a few times a day to get through. Thank God literally that he provided a way for me to get relief. This is key to me to continue to move about.  I tell ya I have been without it for months now. Trying to find someone to come down here to figure out what the problem was, is like trying to pull teeth that are well rooted! So I waited until God sent somebody to us that could figure it out. Thank you to my FIL & Big W! It turned out to be ...

Deer Banana Bread

Image
Today(Thurs) this little family stopped by to say hello. Aren't they just beautiful? The evening brought on a craving for banana nut bread. I hadn't had that in such a long time. I ended up with two loaves, one to eat and the other to freeze. I like ours to be a little bit chunky! Delish! Recipe: I mix together in a large bowl. 1 Cup of Water 1/4 C Corn Oil 3 ripe bananas, broken up in bite size pieces 4 eggs 1/4 C White Sugar 1/4 C Brown Sugar 1 Cup of Pecans (optional) 3 Cups Flour 2 tsp Baking Soda 2 tsp Salt Mix together thoroughly! Pour into two bread pans..the pans should be filled about half way +/- Place in a 350* oven for 50-60 mins or until your knife comes out clean! I take out of the pans about 5 mins after they are pulled out of the oven and laid on cooling racks. Doesn't hurt to slice a piece while it is still warm! Enjoy! Ps. You will be able to find this on my recipe blog if you need it later!    Love he...

Rainy Day Entertainment

Image
While we are seeing a lot of rain, our home state is on fire! It is breaking our hearts that our favorite spot is burning up. We pray for lots of rain to drop! In the meantime, we are experiencing more rain. In the last 28 days, 14 days of rain. Makes it difficult to get our work done. I have only mowed my jobs once. I am thinking I will have to brush hog before I mow! LOL! Well maybe tomorrow I can tackle them. Suppose to be dry and sunny for the next couple days if the weatherman are right. Ending The Week

Image
This has been a busy week! Ending with Hot Hot Weather! I guess summer decided to make it's appearance! Laundry hanging on the line for the first time this year! BBQ Pork with vegie dish The other wall up! Now for some doors. Had to run to the Big W today for a new air conditioner. Our other one was running on its last leg along with a little help from Mtn Man. We had it for at least three years now so a new one is in! We gathered all the burn barrels and loose trash we have built up over the last few months. Dropped it off at the local transfer station along with another snake! This was two times we have dropped off a snake for the transfer station. Not on purpose of course just that they end up on the truck! Not gonna take them back home!! Hope you all have a great weekend!  We may have to go find a water hole to sink into...... Love hearing from ya!!!! Garden Update-Con't

Image
I was looking up how garden is said in different languages just for giggles. Because sometimes I get bored of my titles for my pages. So Mtn Man walks in and says well in Marquandian (Marquand is the nearest town to us) its called a Sweat Box! Good Morning!! I wanted to share that so we all can be in the asylum together! LOL! If you only knew...... Okie Dokie on to the garden. I planted my fall carrots on the 14th and beans on the 15th. Beets will be at the end of Aug and Turnips the beginning of Aug. Zucchini has officially bit the dust! I never thought one could kill a zuke plant! But it is official! Checking it over it looks like it made an attempt at producing but they rotted. There are new leaves coming on but I don't think it will produce much of anything. Will continue to monitor..... Pumpkin plant is not producing pumpkin... see for yourself Not sure what these are.....won't argue with God, we will eat them . Okra is growing beautifully. Not ver...
