Spring has sprung here on the ranch! The little bits of green can be seen and the brown is slowly disappearing. Yeah! In the last couple of weeks I decided to try Ranchwife's Panbread and I added a little bit of Italian herb after rubbing the bread down with olive oil and then baked it....it was delish! We have been busy with guests in our house, so I have been doing a lot of cooking on top of helping the guys with chores and such around the ranch. This girl has been truly busy!!! We so appreciate the help that has been coming, they have been helping with the much needed fencing. Takes a bit of stress of my hubby.......so he can spend the much needed time calving that will continue into the end of June it seems this year. Hopefully we can get that tightened up for next year........  I also have been able to get "Nana" a friend. Another goat named her Cecilia, she is sweet and so soft, thinking she has some sort of Angora in her. She was a 4-H kid in Billings a...

End of the week

Coming back on my 4 wheeler from tagging calves I saw this picture and had to snap it! If only I could add the smell button on here, the sage smells so good!!! I like to think Spring may finally be here, saw little grasses coming up....amongst all the brown that little hint of green is exciting! Friday morning the moon and the sun were showing their faces at the same time. It was pretty cool! The moon going down in the west and the sun rising in the east....God is so awesome! The "Little Ones" are settling in..."Nana the goat" has decided that our new home for her and her friend "Priscilla and Lilly the Lamb" isn't so bad. Hopefully I can get Nana a like friend to socialize with. She is a people goat, doesn't so much want anybody to touch her but she wants to follow ya every where you go. She wants to be in the know I guess! Hubby and I kept hearing about these Solar Flairs and that Friday? may have been Thursday was the highest si...

Sun to Dreary and Cold

Image
Today started out with sunshine then as the day progressed the Cold front moved in. By this evening I froze riding around on the 4 wheeler looking for new babies, we had three new ones, two alive and one born dead. The other family as I have mentioned before, are moving out by the end of the week. So today we made our final deals on some critters they wanted us to have.......whole flock of birds like chickens, geese, and a duck. I also bought a pair of sheep and a goat! I love goats, never really had experience with sheep but my hubby has and he tells me that they are pretty easy keepers. Not planning on getting to many, but am excited to get a couple more this summer from a neighbor.  Thought maybe some of you would be happy to see how the twins are doing. They are pretty girls! Our new ranch assistance have brought this gorgeous stud(Happy Fred Hancock) that we are contemplating breeding to my Lyfa. If so that will start in April.....still thinking about it co...

Sun has come out!

Image
Oh, it is just beautiful out yesterday and today! The night before we had a snow storm come through and drop a little snow on us. We figure about 4". In this part of the country the winds blow something fierce, blows the snow around so there are snow drifts up to a foot deep. Hubby had a rough night of sleep worrying that the girls (Mama Cows) would be calving in the snow banks. Thank goodness they waited until daylight! I decided to take a walk into the calf yard by the barn today and check out the calves we have in here.... I found these two sunning themselves...they are so cute! We have a sled we use to bring in the calves and their mama's in from the east pasture.  This works beautifully! Yesterday I made something new for breakfast and wanted to share it with you. It is a hamburger patty, a fried egg, slice of cheese smothered in country gravy or this morning hubby put BBQ sauce on it instead. On another note, we are having a change of the...
