Well we went and did it! Hired the neighbor boy to help out around the farm! We got a ton done including getting garden ready for tilling! So greatful to this young man for helping us out!! He mowed and helped clean out the round corral where pokey was staying for a bit amongst other things... I love seeing all the progress! Thanks Kid!! Love hearing from ya!!!! So as some of you know, animals are unpredictable! You just never know when they will get themselves into trouble. Hank is no exception to that rule! This last week the in laws let us know that he had gotten himself mired down in a mud bog a couple of times. " Update on the mule situation: he is on all four and eating. Still acts a little tired but he will survive! Thank you Lord for answering all my prayers." "Update on mule.....we had to take him to the vet. He just wasn't acting right. He is very sore in his hips from struggling so much yesterday. He has meds and feels better. Hopefully he will let me give him his meds. He can be difficult at times." They had stuck him up in the barn pasture close to the house by himself. Next morning rolls around: "Missing missing missing! Black mule escaped and can't be found anywhere! If you r in the area spread the word." Well as you can guess on the way to help search for Hank the mule! MIL f...

Friends it has just been brought to my attention that my cousin Little Bella has finally been approved to see a specialist that has been a YEAR in the making! BUT we have run into an issue that brings me here to pull on your generosity bone! Her daddy Joe has been working everyday to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads. Her momma Cheryl is her full time caretaker. They are now both using one car as the truck is broken beyond what they can afford to fix. Which leaves the car....yes, you guessed it....it is on it's last legs!! They did their homework to find the right vehicle and are looking at a Quest...a van type vehicle which they need to transport Bella back and forth to her medical appts which are many! Yesterday we went for a second opinion on his jaw infection/injury. They took xrays and examined the site. After looking everything over carefully......Shorty does not have cancer!!!!!!! What he does have is for a lack of better way of explaining...something like "drylock" in the bone of his jaw! He has a pocket that infection has ate away in his jaw bone. It doesn't appear that infection still exists but he is still healing so we are diligently giving him 2 more weeks of antibiotics to prevent the infection from coming back! Oh and pain killer to keep it from hurting because it is still very painful! So so happy!! Love hearing from ya!!!! For those of you who have not ever lived on a farm some things on a farm are not a thrill! One of those things is cleaning out sheds whether it be chicken, goat or horses. Anybody who says they enjoy cleaning out barns and sheds has lost their marbles in my book! If ya find mine please return ASAP. I can't say that I enjoy cleaning the chicken shed but it is a necessary thing to do to keep my chickies in a clean environment. Well, as clean as chickens can be anyhow! I am not one of those chicken moms who goes out everyday and gets all the little poopies out the shed or inspect my chickies everyday for bugs! Not even close! I do however, keep an eye on their behavior and guesstimate when a good time to clean their pen! Today is the day.... All better! I have some news that has made me stop in my tracks a bit! Our little dog Shorty who I have had for almost 11 yrs now is what this is about. Let me start at the beginning...... The first part of February I took him to have his teeth looked at because he was having trouble eating. He had couple in there that fell out in the docs hands and a few that needed cleaned. They gave us some antibiotics(for infection setting in) and pain pills to make him comfortable. That spot was really tender! Ok, so the next week, I take him in for a check up to find out that the infection was not giving up...so two more weeks of antibiotics and more pain meds. I would watch him and it seemed to me that he was not getting better. Now his tongue hangs out the side most of the time and he keeps that spot moist but always acts like it hurts when he slides that tongue across that spot. So now, we are into the third week in March and back to the vet we go because Shorty is not eating or drinking. Crap! S...

Now Now I was talkin' bout your garden silly! I took a walk out in mine today....oowee it is about ready for some good cleanin'! Rhubarb is already coming up! It looks so good!! Our weather has been absolutely stunning last two days...Sunshine and in the upper 70's...Just stunning! Won't be long now and we will be complaining bout the heat! Ha Ha Well it is that time of year when the tax man is a callin'....Spent all day on Tues going through all the piles of papers getting them categorized into their proper spot. So much work goes into preparing! But I am so happy that somebody else has to deal with all the jargon that is the Tax Law! I used to do them myself for years but not anymore. In fact, I ran a tax store for a private industry but not anymore. All the new laws regarding Obamacare did it for me! Well folks...wherever you are I hope you have a grand day! I don't know if you can feel it but I sure can! Spring has sprung on our farm! It is in the upper 60's and beautiful! Enjoying it before our week long rains show up tomorrow! Chickies are getting brave these days! I have to babysit them to make sure they don't venture to far out or they may not come home! ;( I do love seeing them get those bugs though!
