Homemade Brew

Image
Every now and again, we get the hankerin' for our home made brew. This time I used clementines, apples and cranberries. Each separate and one mixed. No yeast. Used honey, everclear, juice,  boiled fruit and it' s juice. We let ours sit on the wood stove for few hours then set next to stove to cool slowly. Next morning, throw in fridge for 30 days or longer. Little bit goes a long way! Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson

Preparations For The Year

Image
I canned my little heart out this summer/fall. What was left of last year stock  I ordered some chickens in this last week. I try to do this every year because we get a good deal on bulk chicken. I want to get some raised ourselves and hope to this next year. Anyhoo, I picked up my bulk order this morning. They are packaged and in the freezer. It occured to me this morning that I wonder how many folks do this for themselves? Instead of running to the market every night, how about having it ready in your freezer? plus it is a savings to buy it this way! 24 to a box. $1.19/lb Heck ya!  Our favorite way to eat this.....I stick one in a pot in the oven/grill with my home canned potatoes, canned carrots and some Mrs. Dash for hour and half to two hours. Yummy supper! Soooooo Easy!! Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson

Back To The Grind

Image
Good Morning, Good Morning, Good Morning I know it sounds kind of crazy, or does it, that I am always so happy for Christmas to be over! Whew! I survived another year! Thank you, God, in heaven! Yes, we had a lovely holiday. But as most of you know, it is not the same without my kids. I tend to miss them terribly at this time of year! I am looking forward to the new year, for sure! I feel the kids prodding me along to get the book complete. Slowly but surely! On to other news, yesterday we had the day to ourselves. Like I said it was lovely but (which cancels out what I said before this word) we are workers and sitting around doing nothing is not our bag! We headed outdoors in the cold to find something to do. Mtn Man hopped on the tractor while I fed the critters and he started opening up the road to the sawmill. The dirt is great. Now we know where to go for more soil when we need it! In a couple hours, couple people and one good tractor we opened up a "jeep" roa...

Merry Christmas!

Pray For Joe

Image
My cousin Joe is in trouble! Joe is 36 yrs old and is a hard worker. He is a family man, raising 2 daughters of his own along with his stepchildren. His one daughter has fucosidosis , an extremely rare disease that leaves the subject severely handicap. Joe is the primary breadwinner. Joe's wife, Cheryl, is the primary caretaker of their daughter. After many trips to the emergency room in the last few months, Joe landed in ICU this last week with a leaky gallbladder. In turn, he has gone into sepsis. This has caused damage to his heart. His heart rate is in the 20's, has been for days. His drs. put him on an emergency heart transplant list. Shocking is my reaction. Praying, Praying, Praying!!! Now it is Christmas time .......Bills still need to be paid. If you can find it in your heart to help my cousin and his family, we would be grateful! Every little bit helps! https://www.gofundme.com/joe-dockery-family Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © ...

Editing Process

Image
I am happy to be in this part of my process. It has been due for many years. I am, however, not sure I am enjoying the process. Ha Ha. It is necessary I know but it is a pain in the neck. I think because it is my story, it is difficult to review some of the content. Brings back a ton of memories which takes my mind on a tour that I cannot afford to be on, right now! Back to editing....the sooner these are done, the sooner they come back from the editing department. Onward and Upward! Chargeeeeeee! Copyright © 2017 M.E. Sunday Passage

Talia Joy Castellano     17  For our momentary, light distress [this passing trouble] is producing for us an eternal weight of glory [a fullness] beyond all measure [surpassing all comparisons, a transcendent splendor and an endless blessedness]! 18  So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 Amplified Bible (AMP) Copyright © 2017 M.E. Sunday Passage

Image
3  For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service].- Romans 12:3 (Amplified Bible) "Faith is not a feeling.....Faith is a decision that we make about where we are going to put our trust"-Joyce Meyers Mtn Man and I, are constantly testing this avenue in our lives. What I mean is, we tell "the Man Upstairs" that we give it all to Him. Trusting He will take it and run with it. The test comes when we try to take it back, and we run with it. You know what happens? Failure most times. We call that "Indian Giving"....Give it then take it back. When we let Him have it, it is always successful to His plan. We were talking this morning about plans for our future. We, tend to dream, like we all do. But...But we also reali...

Hay Feeding Time!!

Image
A familiar scene in the morning. They are hollerin' cuz it is really cold on this mornin'. Their caretaker, ME, needed to hurry up and get them fixed up! The temp was 11 degrees! Our weather has been crazy lately. Temps from the 70's to the teens within a week or two. Crazy. Some of you know what I am talking about with the snow in areas that are having their first snow ever!! Hay and water coming up! M.E. in the shadows yes this farm girl drives a tractor....hay is coming girls and boys P-Nut is here to keep everybody in line When we stick the bales out, we always have to cut the strings. What strings? Well, the bales have continuious strings on them to keep the hay from unraveling. When they are baled up in those funny box looking balers. The hay is packed in wide rows which are then wrapped up into a bale. At the end the strings wrap around the bale ...kind of like wrapping a ball of yarn. We, then, have to cut these strings off so the critters don...

Logs Delivered

Image
Kind of cool to see cedar logs being delivered. Thought some of you might enjoy the view like I did. I don't think the fella knew I was taking pics.... Having our mill reminds me of when I was a little girl growing up in the Mill Camp. The smell of the logs wafting into our house was a welcome smell. Log decks in our back yard. Log trucks parked close to the house, all lined up like bumble bees ready for take off. The trucks were yellow and black. The sounds of the noon whistle, alarming everybody that it was time to eat. Watching the fellas find a spot in the yard to eat. Daddy stopping by the house to pick me up for a ride in the big log truck. I sat on a milk carton for a seat. Bouncing up and down the roads. Oh the memories just flood in.........  #MastersonsSawmill #CustomCutLumber https://adventures--of--life.blogspot.com/p/mastersons-sawmill.html Copyright © 2017 M.E. Making History

Image
Mtn Man and I, as most of you know, are true believers in the Man Upstairs. We try to follow his direction, not always getting it right. Thank goodness He is a forgiving being or we would be in a world of hurt, for sure! In our lifetime, we are seeing so many changes to our world and today was another. Our president declared Jerusalem the Capital of Isreal. Declared that the United States is moving our U. S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Making a stand for Isreal in the most public of proclamations. WOW!!! If you watch closely, prophecies are coming about before our very eyes! It really is incredible! In other news, please pray for all those who are suffering from the fires in California. Crazy pictures to see Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson

Monday Ramblings

Image
Well, the crud has hit this house again! Dangit if I didn't get it now. Mtn Man has been fighting this crud for almost two weeks. Sinuses fill up and then drain off like a flood, scratchy throat, itchy ears and a little bit of a cough. Ick! I am going to try to head it off using essential oils and natural concoctions. I am not one to go off to the dr. for every little thing! In fact, you would probably say, heck she never goes unless she can't breathe or is bleeding uncontrollably. I would say, you are correct! Dr. would go broke if I was his only patient. ha ha! Despite what my head is telling me, my will is saying to heck with this crud we have things to do. So, off to do chores this morning. let the chickies out, feed and water. then walk over to the pasture to remove the horse blanket for the day. Later in the morning, Mtn Man called to let me know that the log truck driver is coming by with a load of logs. Which means P-Nut and I needed to move some critters back to...

Sunday Passage

Isaiah 40:28-31 Amplified Bible (AMP) 28  Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the  Lord , the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become tired or grow weary; There is no searching of His understanding. 29  He gives strength to the weary, And to him who has no might He increases power. 30  Even youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, 31  But those who wait for the  Lord  [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength  and  renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired. Gettin' Ready

Image
Mtn Man took the day off Friday so, we could get some things done around the farm before the cold weather hits us this next week. We have been very fortunate or not, as of late with warm weather. Last night (thurs.), brought a cold that is affecting my arthritis something terrible! Despite all that, we soldiered on gathering wood. Mtn Man says it will be a 'woody weekend'. Hmmmm We cut off about 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I headed for the 'she shack' to work on fixing Lyfa's blanket. The buckle is broken so it has to be replaced. Easy fix!! Thank the lord for that! After gathering and stacking wood my arms can't take much more hard work for today! Well I am off to do a bit more editing on my manuscript. Seems this takes forever.......very anxious for the next step...page design. Until next time........ Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson
