Recovery

Image
***Warning some graphic photos*** Today marks the second day out of surgery and all is as well to be expected. It took him until last night to get over the anesthesia x2, yes we think he may have woke in the middle of the hour and half surgery. It took 4 hrs in recovery for him to be awake enough to move him to the car in which he slept all the way to the house. He is coherent today and in good spirits. Today is also the day to get cleaned up a bit so that helps too! Thanks everyone for your wonderful prayers and thoughts during this ordeal. We did have some touchy times, such as his blood pressure was through the roof (164/124), waking during surgery and his oxygen levels dropping below the allowance numerous times. We are now on the upside and looking forward to recovery. They fixed every ligament except the LCL which was better than first thought. Doc grafted a new ACL as there was nothing left to repair, he took this graft from his shin. His meniscus was damaged badly and D...

Last Minute Doin's

Image
Yesterday we headed off to his folks to stay the night so we could head out early this morning with our BIG load. We were able to get our container home with us on the farm today.  We worked on the sawmill today. Fine tuning how it works. Then we went to cutting up the remainder of the logs we had left in the pile. We did quite a bit cut up. I just have to sweep the floors and we are ready for our early morning trip to the hospital for Mtn Man's surgery. Hopefully be home about lunch time....... Copyright © 2014 M.E. Are You Prepared?

Image
Well folks here we go again....Because a lack of preparation on our nations part,  for the worst winter that the Midwest has had in years, we are being rationed on how much propane we can order. 200 gals across the board no matter the size of your tank for everybody nobody is special and the prices are INSANE!!! We have heard of some paying $5.50 a gallon!!! Our propane company is at $4.69 a gallon(Monday) and we thought $2.69 was STUPID! In Laws are fixing to pay 750.00 to get 200 gals for their tank. Looks like we may have to think about alernative heating for our place. These prices are not gonna drop all that much when this is done. It will take awhile for things to resolve themselves but I am thinkin we won't see the prices below $3 when done with this which means for a 250 gal tank (they only fill to 80% or 200 gal.) it will cost you no less than $600 bucks to get your tank filled. WOW! then if you have to do that a couple times a year or for some more you might as well...

Creamy Chicken Bacon Enchilada's

Image
4-boneless, skinless chicken breasts, chopped 1 pkg of bacon, chopped 1 onion, chopped 1/2 large green pepper 6 mushrooms, sliced 1 healthy size tsp of diced garlic 3 med heat chili peppers, sliced add all of these to a pan to cook until the meat is done. I love color in my food don't you? 1 pkg of tortillas 1/2 pkg of cream cheese Spread cream cheese in the middle of each tortilla. then add the cooked mixture to each one and roll it like an enchilada....stack next to each other until all tortillas are used. For this one I had 8 to fit in a pan 13x9. *If you have leftover meat then spread over the top of enchilada's. Spread grated cheese lightly over top of this. 1 Jar (Quart Size) Salsa Spread this over the whole pan of enchilada's. Place the pan in a 375* oven for 30 mins. Pull it out and add a healthy layer of grated cheese to the top of this and place back into oven for another 10 mins or until cheese is melted. Copy...

Groundhog Day

We need to have a chat Phil, another 6 wks of winter!!! Argh! Mtn Man and I were talking this morning and if Phil is right we will have experienced 6 mos of winter this year when it is over! This is the longest winter I have ever had....... It wouldn't be so bad if I had some sewing projects handy or beading work handy but I don't as they are still packed away in our storage container. I do some writing which is slow because it is about my life in the past and find it hard to write about it. But I push forward because I would really like to get it done. We have been having huge issues with our internet again. I swear when they created the internet it was suppose to make our lives easier, convenient, blah blah blah and all it has done is cause me headaches and gray hair!! This is the second round with Hughesnet (we had it in Montana) and thought we could go at it again but after two months the service went from no problem with usage to you are exceeding within a few days o...
