Recovery
***Warning some graphic photos***
Today marks the second day out of surgery and all is as well to be expected. It took him until last night to get over the anesthesia x2, yes we think he may have woke in the middle of the hour and half surgery. It took 4 hrs in recovery for him to be awake enough to move him to the car in which he slept all the way to the house. He is coherent today and in good spirits. Today is also the day to get cleaned up a bit so that helps too!
Thanks everyone for your wonderful prayers and thoughts during this ordeal. We did have some touchy times, such as his blood pressure was through the roof (164/124), waking during surgery and his oxygen levels dropping below the allowance numerous times. We are now on the upside and looking forward to recovery.
They fixed every ligament except the LCL which was better than first thought. Doc grafted a new ACL as there was nothing left to repair, he took this graft from his shin. His meniscus was damaged badly and Doc said he spent a bunch of time on fixing this too!

So glad for you both that the surgery is over and the outcome good. Thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThe "ice pack" is AWESOME! Wishes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteWe thought so too. We have been told a six pack fits perfect.
DeleteHere I am late to the game. It's good to hear he's fine but that waking in the middle of surgery is spooky stuff. I hope his recovery is quick and easy.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing he asked me is if doc was mad at him......and asked for hours after that until he was coherent enuf to understand. Thank you Stephen
ReplyDeleteM.E.,
ReplyDeleteOh my, your husband woke up in the middle of surgery. That's enough to make his blood pressure do radical things. Thank God he's okay, and at home being taken care of by his lovely wife.
Tell you husband I said he had better treat you really nice, lol.....
All jokes aside, I'm glad to see your husband is at home and the surgery is done.
He got a laugh from this...Thank you for your prayers and friendship Sandy! It is refreshing to have so many who are geniunely concerned.

ReplyDeleteOh you both are funny! He threatened to have a bell to ring me when he needed something...my reply was nothing short of where he would find that ringer if he used it!!
DeleteOn the real side...he is a great patient.....so far!! We will see as time goes along....he is already getting restless with having to stay put for long periods of time. Will be glad when therapy starts for him...won't be long another week.
