I will continue until January writing on this blog with ditto information on my new blog located here ... I have been on blogger longer than recorded on this blog telling our story. I love to write and now I think I am going to love vlogging! I can tour the farm, take you places and share our life with God as our guide! I think it will be fun! I decided with all the social media issues that are showing up on my old blog, that I needed to find a venue I could trust. I went from over 500+ views a day at the beginning of December to less than 70+ overnight!! I believe this new venue will be a great upgrade to my blog.... Day before yesterday brought more heartache to our lives. Our horse, Blue, passed away. We fought for 6 hrs to try to save him. We want to Thank our neighbors and family for coming to our aide! (((((hugs)))))) Many Thanks!! Blue Boy RIP-12/1/18 To be truthful this incident was overwhelming, emotional, and heartbreaking. I am struggling with my thoughts. Was there anything else we could have done? I know we did everything possible! It is just that I am sad he is gone! We are not sure what exactly happened. We are still investigating what happened. Checking into poisoning, twisted gut or ???? Will know more today, hopefully. I have cried so much that I was out of tears yesterday. This is 2 horses in 6 mos now. Thought we were going to lose another yesterday but we think he came out of it after doctoring yesterday. Trapping season is soon so Mountain Man is boiling up his traps. Here is how he does it and has for years..... 1st he digs them out of his big chest he stores them in...then he has me help him put a nail in the jaws Why? To boil them out or else the critters smell the rust if ya don't! He takes cedar boughs and adds them to boiling pans with water that he will place the traps over (in the water to boil) While they are boiling(20-30mins hard boil if you can), he cleans out the storage box. He uses some of the boughs to clean it with (antiseptic properties in the sap and needles plus covers old smells).  Thought we better update ya on what is happenin' on the farm. Gathering wood to keep the home fire burnin'! The cold has set in for sure and our only warmth in the house besides snugglin' is the wood stove. Thank God for that! It has gotten pretty cold a few nights already and we just got started! The older chickens have decided that now is the time to molt! Ha Ha...they look rather naked without a lot of their feathers. Well not really...but they do look a bit underdressed! I caught one of the younger ones taking a dirt "bath" in the sunshine. She looked as if she was thoroughly enjoying herself! I do have a funny story to tell on these new girls. I laughed and laughed at them! The snow showed up overnight and we got a couple inches. Mountain Man went out that morning and opened the coop for them. They stepped foot outside and headed right back for the coop. I told him they will be alright...it is all new. Well I went out a bit later, and noticed there...

Yum Yum!! I love good apple butter on sourdough toast! OMG! Recipe: 15lbz peeled, cored, diced apples 4 cups water 4 cups apple cider vinegar 6 cups sugar 1cup of lemon juice 1 tsp allspice 3-4 tsp cinnamon add vinegar and water to apple.......cook down until apples are mushy. 1-2 hrs on med temp... then mash with potato masher or blender thingy...whatever works for you. add remaining ingredients..then cook down some more...uncovered....once it seems thick enough like a runny jam.... put in hot jars with hot lids water bath 10 mins. wait for the plink noise.... 15lbs for me=28 half pints, 4 pints Copyright © 2018 M.E.
