Answer To A Question

Image
I know people are no longer happy with their job! How different it could be if we changed to think and feel this way..... Colossians 3:23   Amplified Bible (AMP) 23  Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, 24  knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve. Have a better day!! Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson

Sunday Passage

Hebrews 11:3 Amplified Bible (AMP) 3  By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. To get a better meaning of this scripture please read:  http://www.theberean.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Home.showBerean/BereanID/655/Hebrews-11-3.htm We have generally understood this verse to mean that the material creation, which we can clearly see, was produced from invisible spirit. It is certainly a possible meaning, but it is probably not its primary one. In his book, Great Cloud of Witnesses (pp. 12-14), E. W. Bullinger provides an alternative that appears more accurate and fitting within the context of Hebrews 11. The word "worlds" is translated from the Greek aion , meaning "age," ...

New 'Old' Road

Image
This post is a follow-up to this post---Go Read: https://adventures--of--life.blogspot.com/2018/01/new-road.html 3/4 of a mile was built up with river rock...I think like 165 loads were dumped. Then what they call 'White gravel' (3/4 minus) was laid on top for the whole mile. Not sure of that count. It is so nice! The wet weather showed up right after so it is a little soft in spots. When the sunny days hit...it will set up like concrete! Wahoo!! In total they brought the road up about 14".....we had to move our gate up the pole. Or we would have no gate!! Ha Ha This cut out is the new road up to our sawmill and upper pasture access. It needs lots more work and gravel. We really like having this access. It cuts down on having to pass through two gates to get to the same spot. Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson

Protecting Our Homestead

Image
We have been here, four years. In all of those years, we haven't had hardly any trouble whatsoever. Well, those times are over!  This last week, a coyote showed up on our farm in the evening hours. I was coming out of the hot tub in my birthday suit and heard my chickens screaming for help. I looked up to find them scattering and could not believe my eyes! A coyote was chasing them out of the wood line. Holy Cats! I turned around and headed for the door where Mountain Man was coming out of. He asked what was wrong? I replied I need a gun. He said I heard you screaming (I don't remember that, but I will take his word for it) so I was coming out to check on ya. I grunted and grabbed the gun. Well, P-Nut caused a little mess by trying to go out the door to protect her momma, so I grabbed her. Mountain Man took the gun away from me and fired off a round. With all the commotion, the coyote ran off. The bullet found the piece of 2x6 laying across the old well! Yep, sunk that sucke...

It's Snowing!!

Started snowing last night. Woke up with snow in the trees outside our bedroom window. It is supposed to snow throughout the day.  What is it doing at your house? Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson

Look What Blew In

Image
Yesterday it was 62 degrees out! I was wearing a t-shirt...Today no way Jose'! It is blowin' snow and icy icy! Temps around the 14 mark! The poor critters are bawlin' that it is cold! Like I have a way to fix it for them...poor babies! It does make for a cold day here at Ozark Serenity Acres . Goaty Goat was up in the hay again....getting his warmth on, this morning. I would imagine he will spend a lot of time up there today. The blowing wind cuts right through you for sure....he can stay warm all bundled up in the hay with his buddies warmth helping him out! The "Wise Ones" said this blowing snow was supposed to be East of the Mississippi(I find myself singing this tune when I write MS out..HA HA). I do believe these folks got it wrong!! God had a different idea for sure! Well, I am warming up the tractor. I have to take hay to my horses down below. They munched on a bale last night and obliterated it!  They need to keep their heat up so off I go.... ...

Words Of The Wise

I was reading this letter from a dying woman. Holly Butcher died at tender age of 27. She passed Jan 4th. "Also, remember if something is making you miserable, you do have the power to change it - in work or love or whatever it may be. Have the guts to change. You don’t know how much time you’ve got on this earth so don’t waste it being miserable. I know that is said all the time but it couldn’t be more true." Please take the time to read her letter....  http://www.samanthawillsfoundation.org/contributors/2018/1/6/holly-butcher-1990-2018 Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Taken It Down

Image
Christmas Tree Removal Day! It was a good day to take it down. Temps are good, no wind and I was ready! I packed the stocking hangers and the star. Then wrapped our angel girl in bubble wrap. Packed the extra lights, bulbs and ornaments. A few homemade items I had to re dry cuz the moisture from being outside made them flimsy! Then split the tree up All done! How about you?? When do you take yours down? Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson

Sunday Passage

Ephesians 2:8-9Amplified Bible (AMP) 8 For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation]. Frozen Water

Image
A  gal by the name of Julia Jesu put this Barn Hack out there for others to try: Barn hack: for those of you without electricity at your troughs this does work, I've been doing it for years! Even did a little experiment today. I left 2 troug hs without jugs, and put jugs in 3 troughs. Those with jugs were still completely unfrozen tonight. Those without had a solid layer I had to break up. It's easy! Just take old milk jugs (or water gallon jugs or restaurant frier oil jugs) and put some salt in them- I did 5 tablespoons of kosher salt in each- and a small amount of water, then stick them in the trough! I use 2 per as it keeps them moving more and creates less of a surface for ice to form. 🙌🏼 PSA: what I've found is that during the day in full sunshine this keeps your troughs frost free down to 25 degrees F, and probably about 30 degrees F at night. Over night temps last night were 9 degrees F and I did have a thin layer of ice but it was VERY thin, less than 1/2 a...

Brrrrrrrr

Image
The cold that has settled in to the parts is unnatural!! One day this week we had -13.....CRAZY!!! Thought we left these temps in Montana! In the field, we are so far away from the electricity that we have to rely on Mother Nature to do our thawing for us. Wednesday we turned the barrels over so the sun would thaw them out. Temps were up a bit warmer than the previous days so we took advantage. Once these are melted a bit will fill the barrels again. As you can see we just kept chopping until we couldn't any more. The creek has saved us for the cows and sheep. We just go break open holes for them to drink out of. The temps are colder again....so thankful we had a moments break to get them unfrozen. Critter Alert

Image
Over the weekend we acquired three more ewes which makes 8 for our herd of hair sheep. These girls are settling in nicely. They are still getting used to the routine but as you can see after just couple days they are ok with their surroundings. They are a bit high strung but I have high hopes that they will settle down like the others have.  Goaty goat is surviving this cold. I have to tell another tale about Goaty Goat. Went out into the pasture like we do every morning and looked everybody over. 5 sheep-check(last week), 3 cows-check, 1 horse- check, where is Goaty goat? Mtn Man do you see the goat? Panic started to set in with me!! He yells back...hold on I see him. Just about that time I see a streak of brown pop up out of the hay. I wish I had a camera. There he was in front of the cows head who were eating hay, burrowed into the middle of the round bale. He was shivering a little bit. I figure he was getting warm in by their heads in the middle of the hay. Smart G...

New Road

Image
This is the creek that causes all the issue with our road washing out! It overflows and runs down the road...it gets flowing like a river when it gets real bad! I got stuck in here for 4 days last year during spring rains! The county was awarded fema monies to come in and fix our road! Yay!! We are the only ones at the end of this road. They are doing a fine job of fixing it too!  12/29/17  Mtn Man is in one of those trucks! Yeppers, he is a county man now! I love having him home every night!!  Isn't it beautiful? They unloaded 41 loads of river gravel the first 1/4 mile (it is a mile long). Brought the road up 10". It is so nice!! Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2017 M.E. Masterson
