I can't believe we made it through 6 mos of this year already!!! Here we are working on the first of July with the 4th right around the corner. Mtn Man and FIL have been working hard on getting the fence up on the lease acres the weather has held them back for the most part. It is looking really nice. Hoping to move horses beginning of next week. We have a passle of relatives showing up for the 4th of July weekend so no work to be done.    When they aren't working on fence they are scraping posts for the tee pee . It is quite interesting to watch. The peel them with this scraper (they have an official name for it and I can't think of it right this second) then they take this other tool and it takes off the harder stuff like knots and such. Yes, I am a day late on Weekend Updates but in my defense, we were busy working in the garden yesterday trying to catch it up on the weeds. This large of a garden is full time job. Limited day due to heat and humidity leaves us to work it in the morning hours up until about noon at the latest. Then pick up on other chores the rest of the day. On with the weekend...... Saturday we finished the corner posts on the big field. It is ready for fencing now. And then worked in the garden...... Sunday we headed for the lake..... What a gorgeous day we had! We left just in the nick of time. A storm moved in that was a gully washer or as some say down here a frog choker! No, we did not go water-skiing although it would have been fun! This guy was probably about a mile out on the water from us.  Last night more storms moved in that dropped about 6" of rain. It rained all night and just quite a bit ago. Soggy!! Today we are digging out the Tee Pee. Going to set it up for next weeks visits from family. Wahoo! They are free birds finally !!! First we had to add a bit of chicken wire around the bottom of the fence so we don't hopefully fingers crossed have any mishaps. I can see it now, Peanut is trying to corral them and they are runnin for their little lives oh, not good ending ! Then Mtn Man made a ramp for them that is removable which will happen every night to hopefully keep big critters from getting to the locks.  Then we clipped one wing cause they are flying now. Again for no mishaps! One wing so at least they can still get a little lift when they have to. Open the door and they were little hesistant to leave but with a little encouragement they left the coup . My Broccoli Salad is not exactly like my mother in laws (my fav) but it comes a close second to it!  Recipe: 2 large heads of broccoli- cut into bite size pieces ( flowerettes only ) (some use cauliflower too) 1 large onion 1 cup of craisins 1 cup of raisins nuts are optional Dressing: 1 cup of mayo 1 cup of sour cream couple teaspoons of lemon juice 1/4 cup of sugar Mix everything together real good and let sit in fridge for at least 3 hrs before serving.
