Broccoli Salad & Garden Goods
My Broccoli Salad is not exactly like my mother in laws (my fav) but it comes a close second to it!
Recipe:
2 large heads of broccoli- cut into bite size pieces (flowerettes only)(some use cauliflower too)
1 large onion
1 cup of craisins
1 cup of raisins
nuts are optional
Dressing:
1 cup of mayo
1 cup of sour cream
couple teaspoons of lemon juice
1/4 cup of sugar
Mix everything together real good and let sit in fridge for at least 3 hrs before serving. Usually good to make the night before but hey some of us aren't that prepared.....do the best you can it is still really good!!

Garden Updates:
The tomatoes are coming on.... have some that will be ready in about another week.
The squash & melons are putting on babies.... Picked a large bowl full of snow peas intend on freezing them. The beets are ready to be pulled, the kolhrabi is ready and pulling the onion row leaving the onion in the potatoes yet.
I have picked three strawberries now, broccoli has been coming on a bit and all the lettuce has been pulled need to plant another crop.
The corn is hip high and the beans (variety) are coming in thick!
Sunflowers are hip high.
Raspberries are putting on berries.

Farm Updates:
Cedar posts have been gathered just need the holes to put them in. Things are a little slow due to the high temps and high humidity!
The chickens are growing like weeds and have figured out they have wings. Hope by weeks end to let them out in the big chicken yard. Have to add a bit of chicken fencing around the bottom so the little ones can't escape!
Did I mention HOT? 90's here in the Ozarks........
Window air conditioner and a box fan are keeping this house cool all by themselves! YEah!!!
Had a wiring issue yesterday but solved that problem by plugging into another outlet still not sure what went wrong with that line of outlets.
FIL has moved his travel/horse trailer in to stay here periodically during the summer to help us out on the Farm. Yeah!!
Bought yet another tool yesterday....a tiller that attaches to the Kombitool(Stihl). Neat little tool!

Three days of mowing and today add tilling to that this girl is ti-red!
Well friends I guess that is all for now......

ReplyDeleteYour broccoli salad has come at the right time. I've been craving this salad and didn't have a recipe.
Now that's a nice looking harvest!!! Will you be canning, freezing, or straight up cooking those vegetables?
Good!!
