Ready To Go!

Image
She was waiting for me to take her for a ride. Apparently for a while because I had no idea she was waiting I thought she was with Mtn Man, I should have known she's a momma's girl. This is truly what she would like to be doing  again! Soon Peanut soon! We just nailed down 200 acres to lease with potential for more which will take a lot of work to fence but very excited to be acquiring. We move the horses this coming week to the upper 30 acres after getting it fenced this weekend. So things are moving along nicely..... I have a mowing job, so the mower pays for itself, at the cemetery across the road and maintaining the grounds at the neighbors we lease from! Yeah!! Nobody may be interested, but it is a diary for us to keep track of........ Have a GREAT Weekend! Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson

Farmer Humor

Image
Courtesy of icollector.com My hubby, Mtn Man is a man of character. He has a great sense of humor, which he shares with me regularly. I reply with I wish he would share this online so I am not the only one in the loony bin. Every morning we take a morning dip in the hot tub even with this humidity, it feels good and helps get me going in the mornings. Anyhow, we end up chatting about what we are going to do that day and wander off to whatever miscellaneous subjects we have going through our heads. This morning he was talking about brush hogging a pasture that we just nailed down to lease from the neighbor. I suggested that maybe he should think about a large umbrella for his big orange tractor and he replied with a smirk that if he was to have one it needed to look like a barber pole, the one that swirls. So when he is in the field, he can make those watching him dizzy from his umbrella swirling and tractor going in circles. He took it one step further and said better yet ge...

Weekend Update

Image
I decided to paint my little benches Not a usual color for me to use, but I like it! Have two of them, which will end up out by the fire pit And painted my garden gate too! We had gun church, I don't think this was too bad of grouping for my second time shooting my brand new.380 from about 20 feet. Again Gun Church! Sharpening his skills in the tomahawk throw for rendezvous Pretty Good! A little work was done, moved the smoker to a more level spot, the dog kennel bit closer to the house (pic above), the fire pit to the back of the house closer to our deck area. Mowed everything up and Mtn Man built me a BIG gate to the chicken pen (sorry no pic yet). Of course a wife's duty is never ending, hung laundry on the line. I did find a handy tool for a pulley type line a clip (climbers clip) to hold both lines together which pulls the clothes farther off the ground. Had to use two of them on our line, but it worked fabulous!   Wel...

Sunday Passage

Today our subject is FAITH. I have heard some say this is a hard one, but I really have to disagree with that. Having faith is as simple as in believing. For example.... You believe you will go to sleep at night and have faith that you will wake up the next morning. To believe in something non tangible or to have faith in something non tangible is really a mind over matter deal I feel. Faith in God, for example, is something lots of people have trouble with because He is non tangible. But if you listen or hear or watch or see, you can find he is there!  For example, We asked numerous times in prayer where we were suppose to work when things got out of control at Tom's job in 2011. I asked Tom what he wanted to get back into and he said ranching. Ok, we moved forward in putting out 13 resume's and had one phone call. Went for the interview and by the middle of the week we had a job. Sold our place (which had been on the market for over a year with no bites), quit his job, pac...

Smoking Meat

Image
If done right I love smoked meat!! As a kid the only thing I can remember smoked was salmon which may still be my favorite. Today we had two briskets that needed to be smoked and a whole turkey that I wanted to try. I have to say they both turned out wonderful! The brisket and turkey were smoked for hours after having thawed overnight. In the turkey I put a whole onion and about 6 cloves of garlic covered it with bacon. The brisket I covered in a cajun/steak seasoning rub. While the smoking process was going using sassafras wood (fruit wood works well too) Mtn Man would slather them with a vinegar/water/butter mix every so often.  Copyright © 2014 M.E. Weekend Updates

Image
Saturday we celebrated Mother's Day at the In laws and had a wonderful time. They put on a Shrimp Boil which is something I had never done before it was a little awkward at first but ended well. Corn, Shrimp, Onion, Potatoes all together in a big heap on some paper bags in the middle of the table.....dig in with your hands! I understand at other shrimp boils everybody eats around the grub with beers on the table and pigs out to their hearts content. We ate off our plates and had a great meal!! Thanks Mom & Dad for the great feed! We ended with a dessert, Ice Cream Cake. This was my first ice cream cake and I was told it was very yummy not much to look at but tasted great! Curly had his first saddle experience he did really well! Best personality!! Luv Him!!!! Have a great week everybody!!! ******Don't Forget To Sign Up For The Giveaway*******  Copyright © 2014 M.E.
