Ready To Go!

She was waiting for me to take her for a ride. Apparently for a while because I had no idea she was waiting I thought she was with Mtn Man, I should have known she's a momma's girl.

This is truly what she would like to be doing  again! Soon Peanut soon! We just nailed down 200 acres to lease with potential for more which will take a lot of work to fence but very excited to be acquiring. We move the horses this coming week to the upper 30 acres after getting it fenced this weekend. So things are moving along nicely.....

I have a mowing job, so the mower pays for itself, at the cemetery across the road and maintaining the grounds at the neighbors we lease from! Yeah!!

Nobody may be interested, but it is a diary for us to keep track of........

Have a GREAT Weekend!

  1. Aren't dogs just the best! They each have personalities all their very own.

Sounds like things are going really well for you and Mtn. Man. I'm so glad.....

  2. We have a project in a rural area. The adjacent property owners have two blue heeler litter mates. One stays away, but the other will stop by for a skritch, now and then.

One of its favorite daily tasks is to insure the cattle across the road stay a certain distance from the fence, which is in bad need of repair. I've wondered if the dog is aware of the problem and insuring the cattle stay fenced.

    1. Hey JEss,
Most heelers are very smart dogs. People tend to not pay attention to them because they require a lot of attention! This dog is saving that cattle owner a lot of hassle by keeping those cattle back from that fence probably as you say because it is a bad section and he has learned that they are to stay in that boundary. Heelers are all about a schedule if you watch he probably goes the same time everyday to warn those cows who also follow a schedule all their own.
I could go on but it is interesting to watch!
      Thanks for stoppin by!

  3. Ha! I do wonder how long she was waiting there :)
Also, even mundane things can be interesting. As I have a question regarding your leased land. I wonder how the fencing works? Like since you're just leasing the land, but putting up a lot of fence, who pays for the fence? I'd be reluctant to put all that money & time into fence (knowing what a pain it is here) if the land wasn't mine. Unless it pays for itself by the sale of cattle or the money saved on having to buy hay?

    1. Carolyn we have it worked into the deal that anything permanent is on the lease owner and anything temp (i.e: electric fence for horses) is on us. This farm has been around for over hundred years and the present owner is about 70+ yrs old and has been trying for years to have the previous leasee keep the fences up. Granted they are old but he is willing to pay for new fencing and nobody would follow through.
The hay situation is split 50/50 with the agreement that whoever hays we will buy the other 50 too. It works out nicely really. THis is just the jist of the deal.
This ground will house our horses and cattle soon to come.

  4. We used to have a heeler. She was attached to the hip of Mars. Anywhere he went there she was. When we had to make a move to a smaller place with just a tiny yard she just about went nuts. She missed running and doing dog things. We found a home for her with a friend who had a couple of hundred acres and cows. She loved it out there. But every time she heard the old truck she would come running like crazy to say hello. I sure do miss that dog but there was no way at the time she would be happy in such a small space.
Sorry, I didn't mean to go on and on. I'm glad you guys have come to an agreement and you have so much more room.

  5. M.E.,

Your dog is so adorable waiting there patiently for you. She wants to work mom.....come on!!!

You have your work cut out for you with not only cutting your grass, the neighbors and the cemetery. Before you know it the mower will be totally paid for. Oh I can't wait to see the horses and cattle back home. Looking forward to more pictures.

    Have a blessed Sunday.
