Rain/Snow Has Shown Itself Finally!

Image
For the last couple weeks it has been threatening a Big Storm containing Rain. We have been praying for rain to come and it has finally decided to get with it! Yes, it is April but up here in Montana we have seen snow storms in July. This snow that is coming down is very wet and not sticking but moisture is moisture and we will take it anyway we can get it. The Down side of this deal is the MUD! It gets everywhere, it's like grease it finds it way everywhere..... We have found it to be an Art to Walk in this type of mud. It is very slick, slimy stuff and when it drys it is like concrete probably due to the bentonite. Fun Fact did you know that they use bentonite for foundation in your makeup? Now back to the weather, it is suppose to rain thru Sunday and then start clearing up again. We have two bottle babies now and our new one decided to go and visit the antelope, she acts like on most of the time. So in this mud we made a trek out to get her back and on this ranch the o...

Who's Cookin in the Kitchen?

Image
When living out here like we do a Ranch Wife has to get creative in the kitchen. Lately, Wonder Woman has been arriving every afternoon to cook. Yesterday, Sunday she came up with an oldie but goodie. Bacon wrapped Shrimp with a kick! Start with a large shelled shrimp, a strip of mild chile pepper (heat of your choice really)(the kind you make chile rellenos with, can find them in a can I believe ), a slice of bacon.....in order wrap around each other and stick a toothpick thru to hold. Throw on BBQ until you see the shrimp is done.....yummy!Enjoy! Ps these can be done in the oven as well 400* until shrimp is done.... Can add cream cheese between shrimp and chile pepper.....Enjoy! Then today she made "Creamy Cheese Chicken" ! In a greased pan add boneless chicken breast then top with 2 c cheese of your choice or 8 slices. In separate bowl mix 1 can of cream soup of your choice no water instead add 1 c of white wine. Add 1 tbsp of ...

Spring brings Chicks Via Snail Mail

Image
So excited my first batch of chicks arrived today via the USPS. The mail man was so happy to have other cargo to deliver than his usual bill or unwanted scrap mail he usually delivers. He met me at the mailbox at the end of our 8 mile driveway. In this batch we also got two geese, two ducks and three turkeys. One of the ducks died later in the afternoon, and we did lose a few chicks , but hopefully the rest will live. Monday we go to Finkbeiner's in Belle Fourche to pick up the rest of my chicks which all total will be 50 +/-.

Family Comes To Visit

Image
After kissing the ground...I healed nicely didn't take long just a few bumps no bruises. Have so much to talk about, let's see, family stayed for about a week and half left this last Sunday. They saw the life we lead at the present and agreed that it is for those who have the desire to live it. They got to see lots this trip without even leaving the property! Collecting semen, roundups, calves of all ages, lots of wildlife and tons of open sky! We had the fencing crew on top of it all, so they helped make meals for them as well. We so appreciate all the help they lended while here! Our first bummer of the year.....  Pushing the Bulls down the shute to get them ready for collecting their semen. 4 out of 5 passed the test. We had one of the bulls injure himself a month back and he is the one who did not pass as of yet. Hopefully he does pass here in a month or two. The machine the doc brought had issues so the doc had to test the ol' fashion way! This is t...
