Holiday Over...

Image
I always have a hard time when it comes to holiday time due to the loss of my children. I know it has been 16 yrs since they left but it still makes me feel bad when I think back to when we celebrated our last holiday together which was Thanksgiving/Christmas together. And too my son's birthday is on the 26th so ya know it is a tender spot in my soul. This year was a special year for us in that we got to celebrate with all his family at "home". What a treat for us! It was nice to see everybody and spend a couple days with them all. They all came over to our place today and hung out in the sunshine and warmth of the bonfire we made in our pit. MIL still had tons of leftovers so there was plenty to eat for all! Here is a few pics from the Thanksgiving and Today. What wonderful memories.... Lots of Eaters! Even had pickers in the bunch! Water checkers And Fire Watchers!  But best of all we had lots of love and fun being together as a family! Copy...

Truly Being Thankful

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.                                                                        -Colossians 3:15 - 3:17 Copyright © 2013 M.E. Temporary Fix

Image
Ok  so I think I have said before that we have decided to rebuild which means that the living quarters will be in the back half of the house. When we get the front half done then decide if we want to keep the back half or remodel it etc. But for now we are in the process of getting the laundry/kitchen set up in the one room and our bedroom is also a t.v. room. So with this is mind we are fixing everything temporary like....the linoleum in the hallway is ripped in the middle so I went down and found some throw away carpet to put over this spot screwing it down in place. For heat in the back we decided to buy a propane heater and placed it in the same spot as the "broken" furnace which works well. The bathroom I have remodeled to our tastes and have to add couple more things and it will be finished. Today my hubby got my utility/kitchen sink set up and my washer/dryer up which was no small task. So happy to have them up and running. Looks like tomorrow we will get the rest ...

Little Light Reading

If you like to read mysteries I have some books for ya to read. My friend who is close to her 70's starting publishing her books, oh I would say about 2 yrs ago maybe it was last year, dang memory can't remember when but anyhoo. Barbara Renfro is now an author which was always her dream...back in the corner of some shelf she had a book that she wrote years and years ago I think she told me when her boys were young who are now in their 50's. We talked it over and I read over her script and commented on how well I thought the plot was, how the story grabbed ya and off she went to find a way to publish it. At first she tried to publish it with a known publisher but they wanted mula and lots of it. Nooooo way! Then she went on the hunt online to find a way to publish so she could at least get a little monies for all her hard work just like everybody else does. She decided on Kindle Self Publishing , she felt they had the best deal of all them out there. She just sent me a me...

Going Out For Good Eats

As of late we have gone to a couple of establishments that are close to our house. #1 Huff's Highway Cafe Owners Pete & Marie Huff       Hwy 72, Patton, Mo Open M-S various hours Review: I was a little wary at first whether to stop and eat at this establishment. But don't let the lack of polish shine you away. Judging this book by its cover will make you very sorry you didn't go into to eat. They will fill your bellies with tasty eats and make you want to come back for more of the home cooked feel. Inside you will feel like you have just left grandma's kitchen in the ol' farmhouse decorated with kids coloring projects and the sounds of pitter patter above ya while ya eat! The prices are really reasonable for the amount of food you get! So if you find yourself in the Ozark Mountains Stop in and Have a bite you will not be disappointed! Be sure to say hello to Marie (Cook), she is a hoot! #2 Dogs N' Suds      Hwy 67, Cherok...

Loaded Chicken Enchiladas With Corn Tortillas

Image
This is one of those dishes that you could prepare ahead of time and then throw together just before you put in the oven for 30-45 mins in 350* oven... 4-5 chicken breasts, chopped 2 cans of Black Beans, rinsed 4-5 green onions, chopped 1 can of olives, sliced optional item ..fresh mushrooms about 6 sliced 1/2 package of corn tortillas ( already cooked up in oil and drained) 2 qts. of salsa 1 lb. of shredded cheese I cook the chicken, black beans, green onions, olives, mushrooms and (1) qt of salsa together until chicken is done and it is good and HOT! When this is done you are ready to begin the casserole style enchilada...start by lining the bottom of a 13x9 dish with the corn tortillas then add some chicken mix, then line corn tortillas, chicken mix etc. until the dish is full up(kind of like lasagna style stacking)....put the dish in the oven and when the dish is bubbling this is when you add the last bit of ingredients (1) qt of salsa spread over the top and t...

Catching Up

We arrived on the 2nd of November still able to enjoy a taste of fall in the south. The leaves changing were in full force and the further south we got the more the change was getting closer to their end. So needless to say, we have been blessed with a long fall this year. The temps are in the 50's/60's and lows in 30's/40's although we have had some teens as lows a few nights but this is still so much nicer than back in Southeast Montana. Our Drive! Trees More Trees.. Did I mention Trees?  In our short time here we have already established a nickname with the locals, "Montana" is our new identity. We go to breakfast most every morning at the local cafe called "Hideaway Cafe" owned by Randy & Linda Smith. Wonderful food and Great People!!! This going to breakfast is a new deal with us but we are without a cooking stove at this moment so I am limited to the micro and crock pot and let's not forget the BBQ Grill ou...
