Fixin' The Mess

Image
Good Day Everybody! These last few days have been busy busy. The rains continued for another two cycles which put us right close to 9" of rain total! Our road did not do too bad. The "dam" breached (I say that loosely as it is only a gravel burm) on the creek and it flowed down our road. Mountain Man took the back blade down to fix what he could. I think he did a marvelous job! Don't have pics of the after...have to take my word for it! Ha Ha Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson

Sunday Passage

Have you listened for your calling? Have you heard from God? 8  Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”- Isa. 6:8 Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson

Something New

I was invited to a "Ladies Tea Party" today. It was sooooo much fun! All denominations of faith got together today and had a tea party. We listened to a few speakers that had messages from God and lots of music. Then exchanged tea cups and ate ate ate! It was a three hour fun time! This was our table....we had fun! __________________________________________________________________  I got home just in time for the rains to flood out the road! I rushed to get home. Smell That?

Image
Water receded enough for us to cross with the tractor and the FJ to feed our horses in the lower pasture. Expecting two more rain systems before we have a three day dry out. We are at 5 1/2" of rain...... Ice showed up Wed. night as predicted I took advantage of this gap in our day to bake some grain bread. As some of you know, we do not have a conventional oven. I use our woodstove and outside bbq grill for that purpose. Been doing it this way for yrs! Recipe will be on my Cooking blog . I did use the bread machine my MIL gave me to get it ready for the oven. My hands, shoulders and neck do not like kneading bread anymore. Luv my machine for this process!! And the smell of the bread rising in the house and the bread cooling is so good!!! No lambs yet....WAITING! Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson

Flooding Once Again, Update Removal

Image
Well, the rains showed up on Tuesday night, no ice. 4+" of rain dropped overnight. The new road is holding as of Wed. morning. The first creek crossing however is washed out. Mountain Man walked into the creek to see the level and he got as far as the top of his muck boots. He did not go any further. He said he could probably get us out in an emergency but anything else better not. The ice did show up late Wednesday evening. It continues to rain surely bringing our totals around 8" +/- as they forecasted. We have more rain coming through Saturday. Uggghhhh! ______________________________________________________________________________ Removal of the porch Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2018 M.E. Masterson

Re-Purpose Excess

Image
This is a continuation of yesterday's post. What you cannot see is there is a concrete steps and slab at the end of the where the porch resided. Mountain Man said well where do you want them? #1- Please place in front of my She Shack. Just have to fill in with gravel around it! Gives the She Shack a more appealing look don't ya think? #2- Mountain Man suggested in front of the New Chicken Coop Little more work and this will make a fine hen hut for my chickies!! Now onto the next part of the destruction! Will have wait until the rains pass....looks like it will be a long week of rain. We need it! Copyright © 2018 M.E. Farm To Do List

Image
Since Mountain Man has been getting over being sick for the last two weeks with Flu-B and double ear infection, we decided to skip going to Cowboy church yesterday. It was a gorgeous day out, so we took care of some much needed 'to-do' list stuff. #1- All the critters needed our attention yesterday. Hay and water, etc. We moved Ram-Lamb in with the cows and Goaty Goat so the gals could be free of his pestering. They all were much more relaxed after that. I think he was keeping everybody stirred up....Just like a male! Hee Hee Hee Oh...blah blah....I know you guys will get your feelers hurt on that front. I was not pickin' on ya too hard. #2- We needed to finish the "top-wire" on the new fence. Barb wire was applied to almost all of it. We got to the last 75 ft and ran OUT of wire. Very disappointing to say the least!! The rest however, looks really nice! #3- Mountain Man ripped out the front porch which is the first line of defense on the destruction of the...

Mixed Up Day

Image
Both Mountain Man and I woke up with no idea of what we were going to do today. So we laid in bed a bit longer(rarely do this) and chatted about what we had on our minds. Then we got up after making the comment that the older we get the more it hurts to stay in bed ( those over 40 can relate I am sure). He made the comment this is a six-seven hour bed. That's it! The longer you stay the more it hurts! We looked outside and by george it was SNOWING BIG flakes! We headed out for chores, checked the sheep, fed the cows, fed lyfa the horse and returned to the house. We then decided we had better get the cows grain in town right away. Off we go to town! Returning home...saw couple rigs in the ditch. By then it had turned to mixed snow/rain. Once we got to our area, Mountain Man says "You want to go for a drive?" I replied" Sure, let's go". We headed south then east then northwest then for home. About 3 hrs later we are home. Still no lambs! We still were...
