Preparations For Trapping Season
Trapping season is soon so Mountain Man is boiling up his traps. Here is how he does it and has for years.....
1st he digs them out of his big chest he stores them in...then he has me help him put a nail in the jaws
Why? To boil them out or else the critters smell the rust if ya don't!
He takes cedar boughs and adds them to boiling pans with water that he will place the traps over (in the water to boil)
While they are boiling(20-30mins hard boil if you can), he cleans out the storage box. He uses some of the boughs to clean it with (antiseptic properties in the sap and needles plus covers old smells). He then lines the box with boughs to lay the blackened(by the boiling process) traps on so they are ready for use!
Done!
