Christmas in the House

Today's Recipes Here

While waiting to hear news on Momma Linda, I decided to calm myself a bit and decorate the tree Hubby found for us. He went straight out the door, day before and cut a tree out by the creek on our place. Of course, it was full of snow so had to let it melt off before I could set it up and decorate it. It is a Charlie Brown tree but it is our CBT. And I happen to have lots of presents under this little tree for 10 kids who like Christmas too.
He had a little helper

Wondering why these pieces are left, papa?

Come on Papa you can do it!

Found some decorations our are somewhere packed away

Juniper Tree
Trying to be Merry.....

American Indians, such as the Navajo, have traditionally used juniper to treat diabetes.[3] Animal studies have shown that treatment with juniper may retard the development of streptozotocin-induced diabetes in mice.[4] Native Americans also used juniper berries as a female contraceptive.[5] The 17th Century herbalist physician Nicholas Culpeper recommended the ripened berries for conditions such as asthma and sciatica, as well as to speed childbirth.[6]
Juniper berries are steam distilled to produce an essential oil that may vary from colorless to yellow or pale green. Some of its chemical components are alpha pinene, cadinene, camphene and terpineol.

We use the needles on our wood stove for the purpose of a breathing in the aroma. Junipers have a lot of healing powers....even our older generation used them in times past.....read here ...Some more light reading.

What kind of tree did you get or are gonna get?

  2. M.E.

We have two big junipers on the property. I was reading about the berries and benefits the other day. I'm a little nervous about trying to use them because I'm not totally educated on them yet.
I love your Christmas tree, it's my type of tree. This year we may or may not put up a tree. Trying to get in the spirit. I may just surprise everyone and pull out the old fake one. I prefer fresh, but it's wet and cold to cut one down.

Now that's getting in the spirit, love your antlers :-)
Great picture of you and hubby.

  3. What great shots. All that snow! Ours has been rain.

I'm thinking about getting a potted live tree this year, one I can plant later. We could still use a few hedgerows along the road and this might be a start. (Recipes look good too!)
