Do Over

Can I start this day over? Get ready for the venting session....ok ya ready here it comes......

It has sucked from the time I left my comfort zone (the farm) this morning.
People are nuts when they drive. Whatever happened to giving yourself time to get where your going instead of runnin up somebody's ass and stayin there until they pass ya or turn at their spot! I hate traffic and other disrespectful drivers. Going into the city for me is punishment! And when I have to drive well, strangle me NOW and get it over with! It really gets my goat when a driver passes at a high rate of speed and they are headed to the same place you are only to get there 30 secs before you!! ARrrgghhh! Yes, I give dirty looks! And yes, I am sure they know what I am sayin in my mind!
I am going to back up a couple days here....Friday I pick up my mail to find a letter from Mtn Man's job. The insurance requires each and every person to get a "Wellness Check Up" or else they will list you as the worst possible scenario keeping the rates high. The company put out an incentive for each person to get this check up of saving $75 a month or $900 a year. And then the letter added that I, the spouse, had to get this done by June 30th. Did not give me much time! I understood the letter to say that I needed to make an appt. with LabCorp and then take an online Health Assessment form. Saturday I made an appt via their online service.
Today, after my cup of coffee with cream and honey, I headed the hour and half drive to my set appt at 9 am. On the way I drank a protein drink that I prepared before I left and arrived 10 mins early. They escorted me in immediately because I had an appt which can only be made online. They sat me down in the blood collection chair. The gal asked me a couple of questions and then told me that they would not be able to help me today as I did not have all the required information needed to complete the tests. HUH? I was not informed that I needed to call the insurance company to get said information for the lab. I left in a hurry! I was upset! Not sure they saw me leave actually it was that fast. As a side note, I am not a good patient and I don't do doctors visits real well either. So I left the parking lot and headed for grandma's place (Nursing Home). I had plans to see her today anyhow. It is now 5 after 9. I got on the phone in the parking lot of grandma's. Talked to a lovely lady named Brenda who could tell I was a bit frustrated! She gave me the number I needed and said I was good to go!
I turned around went back to the lab. Signed their little sign in sheet again..it is now 9:15 am. They bring me back to the room and I had to pee so bad she showed me the restroom no need for pee test.
Relieved I went back to the blood collection chair and she asked me IF I WAS FASTING? I about flipped my cookie!! I said calmly but sternly NO nobody told me that I had to fast! If I could have called to make an appt maybe I would have known this little tidbit of important information!! She said well you can get the test BUT if your results come out on the high end it is possible my insurance rates would reflect that! HOLY CRAP! If I wait and fast to take the test it probably would be better for our rates. It is a glucose and cholesterol test. So far I have seen two people and talked to one on the phone and not one time did they say FASTING! I was so frustrated that I picked up my things and left one more time! I went back to Grandma's to visit! By the time I got to her room I was on the verge of tears. I was so pissed that the emotions were over whelming me! She wanted to know what was wrong with me and I spilled it all to her.
She said she was frustrated too (for a different reason, which I will explain). She said this world is going downhill fast. It is so bad! I explained to her that if she only really knew what it was like she really wouldn't like it. She is in her early 90's and has been in the nursing home years now. Sheltered from the real world or should I say for the most part. Things happen in those nursing homes that would make a person just shutter!! Her frustration came from a missing rosary in a money coin purse that she received as a gift from her eldest son and wife. After I heard her story I looked around and found it hidden in her drawer. It still was not where she had left it, not sure what the story is there but I can speculate! She has had many things stolen from her in that place!
I left there feeling a bit better but still upset that insurance companies yank a person around the mulberry bush this way. In this letter it would have been much better if they explained what was expected of a person. I do not go to a doctor unless I really need to be there. Like this last winter and not being able to breath because of pneumonia and bronchitis at the same time. For me most times takes an act of God to go to the doctor! Ask anybody!
So now I am back to square one again....Not sure I want to pursue this stupid process. Whatever happened to the old days. You sign up for insurance, pay them the money no questions asked and you were covered! Now it is a circus act! I am not a dang pony and they are not whippin my ass to jump through the hoops! My hooves are planted!
I may change my mind after tomorrow but today! Humphhh!

Well its sunshine and posies out...what I mean is been raining off and on today with the sunshine appearing once in awhile.

I did stop off at a couple of cemeteries to find some family members which usually calms me down. Takes my mind off of the real world for a few.
Headed back home after going through the Popeye's drive thru...comfort food!
Alrighty then .....maybe tomorrow will be better day!
Thanks for listening!

  1. Tomorrow has to be a better day. Seems like you got all of the bad stuff out of the way today!
I think I might rather take a beating rather than drive in the city. Seems to me that people are lots more impatient and rude than they used to be. Sign of the times?

I wonder why the personnel in the doctor's office would assume you were familiar with the procedures. I wonder if it is because they are used to dealing with so many who run to a doctor for every little hangnail and therefore become familiar with what is expected. They likely are not used to those of us who see a doctor only when it is absolutely necessary. Time was that a person went to a doctor when they were sick. Now they go for every little thing. I just don't understand that at all.

Hope you are feeling better now that you are home. Sending a hug your way!

  2. M.E.,

I really hate dealing with insurance, and doctor's offices. I so feel you're frustrations, been there before with not insurance but a doctors required blood test where I wasn't given instructions to fast.

People don't know how to drive on the roadways. They ride up your butt and try to intimidate you just to get ahead of you. It doesn't get them any further though. I laugh every time a person passes me because I drive the speed limit or a tad faster and they get stuck beside me at the next stop light.

Take a deep breath, and remember this too will pass :-)
    Hugs,
    Sandy,

P.S. After fasting all night, bring yourself a snack of some sort to have after your test.
