For Real
This is before we weeded! |
We started our day taking a walk in the garden which turned into working in the garden pulling weeds. The fall garden has been weeded. The garden was still a bit to wet to plant more seeds. Hoping that we will be able to use the rototiller today and plant some more beets for my In Laws.
Plus we picked about 30-35lbs of tomatoes....
I then went to canning tomatoes and okra, ended up with 12 qts and 12 pts total!

My outdoor kitchen |
Mtn Man and I have lived off grid by choice at our cabin in Montana. We loved our life there and intend on having something similar here.
At the present time, as some of you know already, our house needs to come down and we will build an efficient house that would be run off grid with the ability to connect to the grid if need be. Power coming from solar panels and a wind generator.
My kitchen now has no "real" stove I cook with a camping stove or a convection oven or microwave or the BBQ grill out back.
All of this will be replaced with a wood cooking stove like they had 1880's-1900's.
Much like this one:

I do hope for a built in when we build our new kitchen. I have way better things to do then tend to dishes from the day!
Notice the kitchen table there in the kitchen, it has provided me with more space to cook on. I prepare my food here for whatever I am doing. If you look on the wall up there on the left... Notice the cobble of wires coming out of the electrical box...SCARY!!!
You can't see it but we have an extension cord on the right side of the fridge that hooks up our tele stereo , DVD,etc. In our living room there are cords that you have to step over in the middle of the floor to run whatever we have need to run lights, computers etc. The north wall electric plug ins no longer work so that is why the need for extension cords everywhere.
And this is only the half of it......
This folks is part of being "real". Life here at Serenity Valley is not all people dream it up to be. But it is ours! God is our captain and we rely on Him regularly.
We choose to live a humble life, pay as you go kind of life. Some could do it and others could not or would not.
We live close to the earth not necessarily pioneers or homesteaders but God fearing, hard working farmers who try to live by the Word and still have fun!
