Adventures Of Life!

Yesterday we popped over to the folks and had a bit of fellowship with them along with D & R our friends. Fun was had by all. Sat around and told all kinds of stories, food and such. The wind was blowing so cold that the guys didn't sit out on the porch to long smoking their pipes (this is their usual when we visit). I was happy to see the horses....of course I took lots of pics! Will share them in a minute.  First I have to tell ya my FIL made me for an early early birthday present a new wallet. I am proud of this...it turned out beautiful! The best part is the care and love I know went into it....well at least I think? (wink wink, LOL!) Oh he is always harassing me. I guess it is like he says I am his one and only DIL. His favorite DIL! LOL! Ok Ok here is the wallet... He could make one for you too if you like...email me for details! Yesterday was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and it was in the upper 40's. Today is a bit breezy and overcast and hopefully we don't see the moisture they are predicting for the next couple days. We are still planning on bringing in cows from the lower field (the one that all the water is in...should be fun!) on Saturday and Shipping them out on Sunday. I have been working on getting the paperwork together on all the cows. On this ranch we have set up a system to keep track of how the cows are doing( i.e., weight, calving season, age, breeding, etc.). About this time of the year I usually spend time getting the numbers together for the owner so he knows where his herd stands in the way of whether we need to cull or how many calves he has so he can decide what he wants to keep or sell. This year as you know is a bit different as most everything is going to sale barn. So he needs all cattle accounted for and closing out the books so he can report to taxes what he needs ...

Woke to another day of dreary. No I am not complaining, we need the moisture! But it makes for a day of inside projects that I have been dying to get to. We are all ready for the cows to come in for preconditioning, just waiting out the weather. The guys went up yesterday and opened the gates so the cows could drift down this way, and thank goodness the weather has pushed down closer to us! Last night I was reminded of an event that someone asked me to make some jewelry for. I forgot because we were so busy! Well today I have managed to get it together, I had a barrette in my stash that I made this last year and it was the right colors so I made a pair of earrings to match. Turned out beautiful if I do say so myself! After doing his morning chores , my hubby is getting into his leather projects and getting some saddles ready for this weeks ride up the way. Saddles were dropped off for him to fix! What a fun day we are having so far! Hope you have a great weekend! Off to wo...

Well so far so good on the plumbing issue. Turned out we had to order a new pump as well. Seems the cold brings the worst out in the weak spots. We have had a variety of weather anywhere from Sunshine to Rain to Snow and Cold Cold Cold! This evening it is about 5* above zero but could drop below zero tonight. The moon is shining as are the stars it is beautiful! This week I have been working on a Queen Quilt which is turning out to be really pretty and will be very soft. The theme "Sexy " so I came up with this. Had to really ponder that but I don't think this is half bad for sexy! The other one I made is a twin and it's theme was "barbie and hannah montana". Tom is in the midst of finishing up my christmas present. A white leather mountain man style coat lined with felt material and accented with Navy Blue. It is really beautiful and almost done! When he gets it done will get some pics with me in it!  Well gotta go! talk to ya s...
