Open Door

Image
We have just enough of a break to open up the front door and let that FRESH air in! Believe me this house needs a bit of fresh air. Let me see if maybe I can paint an image your nose you can smell. When you walk into our house at any given time of the day....you will smell a hint of old house (musty, mildey, mousy, buggy, etc you get the point and if you haven't smelled this before well use your imagination), dog smell (old & young), whatever I have conjured up in the kitchen or is sitting on the wood stove, wood stove smoke, wood (cedar & pine), with a little smell (perfumed kaka most times) of whatever is wafting out of the bathroom (sits right directly next to the kitchen) that has just been used, grain smells from the pantry (this is where the animal feed is stored for the moment) and people funk from being cooped up in the winter time (you know what I mean). This is not to say I am a dirty house keeper...just not the anal one I used to be yearrrrrrssss ago. Our ho...

Horse Wallet

Image
Yesterday we popped over to the folks and had a bit of fellowship with them along with D & R our friends. Fun was had by all. Sat around and told all kinds of stories, food and such. The wind was blowing so cold that the guys didn't sit out on the porch to long smoking their pipes (this is their usual when we visit). I was happy to see the horses....of course I took lots of pics! Will share them in a minute.  First I have to tell ya my FIL made me for an early early birthday present a new wallet. I am proud of this...it turned out beautiful! The best part is the care and love I know went into it....well at least I think? (wink wink, LOL!) Oh he is always harassing me. I guess it is like he says I am his one and only DIL. His favorite DIL! LOL! Ok Ok here is the wallet... He could make one for you too if you like...email me for details! For those of you who look for a horse fix ( Gail Atthefarm ) here are those pics Curly has his mother'...

Icy

The weatherman got it right this time. On top of our 9" of snow we now have a layer of ice about 1/4" thick. Which makes everything pretty but dangerous! We are surrounded by trees in our valley. Lots of cracking and falling going on. Kind of cool to hear! Included in these pics to follow are Mtn Man's version of ice creepers. They work awesome! ***************************************************************************** Current bead project: Toodles!   If you want to leave a COMMENT please EMAIL me (MARYE.MASTERSON@GMAIL.COM) Love hearing from ya! Snow Days Of February

Image
Still boggles my brain that we are in the year 2015. I know, right? Crazy.  Yesterday   Today Today we are concentrating on getting the critters a bit more set up to withstand the cold we are experiencing and the 9" of snow we received.  We were into the single digits last night...neighbor mentioned 3*. We are not sure how low but it is suppose to be colder tonite. Like in the (-) category! I do hope my critters stay warm enough. The Chickens are screaming about the weather...taking turns screaming at the door about not able to go out by their choice. A few have ventured out but return to the indoors quickly. A few of the girls have tried flying out in it only to get stuck and be rescued by their human, ME! Have to check on them regularly to make sure they are not chicycles! I have a warming light inside to keep them warm, so far it is working. Have to bring their water in to defrost. Can't seem to keep it warm enough. I have the water directly under the ligh...

Winter Snow

Image
This mountain girl is of the opinion that winter is not official until you have snow. We had a sciff already but woke to 7" of snow this morning and it is still coming down. It is a light fluffy snow! If you happen to be reading this and are not used to driving in this stuff please take my advice. STAY HOME!! Much safer place to be. Nothing is more important than your life! Ok enough of that.....here is some pics...     It's hard to believe we had 69* a week ago.
