Organ House Series

Goodness Gracious here we sit on the last day of October, already! Time change is about to happen and whoopde doo onto the next season!
It seems like we just started this season, doesn't it?

Well I don't know about you but this girl, as usual, is up to her ears in life! What's happening, you ask? As I sit here with my coffee in hand typing this out, yes not the easiest typing this out with one hand. I am attached to the go go juice as if I put it down it would run away. Anywhoo, down the hatch it goes as I peck away at these keys on the board.
Life be lifeing! Lets see not sure where we left off, this might turn into a two part story....😎
Papers for the organ house were signed Oct 9th. The weather changed the next day so we were delayed for the weekend but managed to make the trip Tuesday of the following week.
Arrived to our house and promptly moved in. Some nice folks I met came to the house and helped me unpack the trailer into the cleanest room in the house. I am forever grateful for them! I was so tired from the moving process and they made it so much easier. God sends people, He sure does!
Sorry about the sideways picture not sure why it downloaded this way....
So as you can see Whiskey and I have been in our new digs now for 2 1/2 weeks now. Absolutely no regrets!
If you know me, I won't let grass grow under my feet!

I hired a guy to take out trees n bushes on my property. He removed three trees out in front of the house. Looks really nice. They needed to be removed due to their age and prior care. Then he started in the backyard. He is a handyman too. I have to say something here, In this state you really need to be versatile in your skills when it comes to labor. this guy is case in point, he is an arborist as well as an all around handyman too! So I asked to him to help me with some electrical issues that we had in the dungeon.
You see, it started with the sump pump that has been buried. It has been plugged into an extension cord for who knows how long and really needed an outlet to plug into, if for nothing else safety reasons.
Then it moved onto the lights that are dangling ...attached to a sliver of a board is the junction box with two big cable wires coming out of each side of it with a metal light fixture coming off of it. Yikes! Again Safety reasons.
Then on the 9th of Nov I am having that Whole House Water System w RO installed and they need an outlet to plug into.
The Fuse box had only a few labels in it! You know the big ones but nothing else! So my handyman methodically went through every fuse to figure out what each one did and as you can imagine it was a puzzle! Figuring out decades of wiring from the attic to the basement! He crawled all over this house!
But he did manage to find wires that will work for what he wants to rewire for the outlets!
In the dungeon there lies a BiG Furnace. It probably was put in there about the 1950's, just a guess. It has been flooded numerous times as you can see from the rust lines on it! From the look of things actually sat in water multiple times. I have decided to defunct it! I cannot afford to let that machine run that musty, damp air throughout my house disguised as heat. So my handyman is going to use the wiring from the furnace to junction the outlets. Sounds like a plan. And we found a new home for the furnace so it can go back to work again!
I have alternatives to heating my house for those who are concerned about us being warm!
With that said, the guys came in yesterday and cleaned out the debris left behind down in the dungeon from years of neglect. Two old water heaters, lots of stinky old wet and crusty rugs, towels, container full of old concrete pieces, container full of water 👀 and miscellaneous debris that had no reason for being down there.

The sump pump saga continues. Handyman brought a friend who is in the water treatment business and he had a look a the pump and the hole, which by the way sits at the very bottom of the steps...would have thought there would have been a better spot for it than that.
Will see about relocating....We all discussed the options to having something more efficient in regards to the sump pump. Came up with some solutions that sound like a plan.

The other projects going on simultaneously, I tore out the carpet, strips and staples in the big room/sewing room. I spackled the paneling on three walls thus far. Planning on sanding the walls, touching them up and painting. I double backed the lace curtains in this room for insulation reasons. and I plan on painting the ceiling in this room too. The floor I am thinking the wood laminate locking strip flooring stuff. I have thoughts of using this room as shop but I am still thinking this through...we shall see.

The front bedroom I stripped it of the carpet which had a horrible smell to it. the floor which is plywood I painted with an oil based paint to seal it. The walls I painted which are paneling. I skipped the spackle process and just added three coats of primer on it! Painted the ceiling. I am thinking Prayer Room/Sleeping space maybe. Again don't know until it is done.

The main bedroom I am thinking this weekend I will be tearing out the carpet in it! We shall see what lies beneath the stinky carpet....

Quick note here, I have begun to get some sewing jobs. Picked up a few couple days ago so the big room is at a stall with the remodel until I get caught up on my projects. Have quite a few now including those two quilts that need finished being sandwiched together!
Well I believe that is it for now....and yes my car, conex box made it safely too. That turned into an ordeal but it is all good! Too much testosterone for one area!
Last but definitely not least, I bought and built Whiskey a perch so he can see outside so he does not get bored! He really does like his new digs! And it will get better and better the longer we are here!
Making a home is hard work but we will get there! God has been good to us and is still protecting and providing for our every need and even for our wants! So grateful!
Luv ya'll byeee
I have also started a series on Youtube called the Organ House series. I talk about the remodeling process with updates. @MEMASTERSON
