Deer Banana Bread

Image
Today(Thurs) this little family stopped by to say hello. Aren't they just beautiful? The evening brought on a craving for banana nut bread. I hadn't had that in such a long time. I ended up with two loaves, one to eat and the other to freeze. I like ours to be a little bit chunky! Delish! Recipe: I mix together in a large bowl. 1 Cup of Water 1/4 C Corn Oil 3 ripe bananas, broken up in bite size pieces 4 eggs 1/4 C White Sugar 1/4 C Brown Sugar 1 Cup of Pecans (optional) 3 Cups Flour 2 tsp Baking Soda 2 tsp Salt Mix together thoroughly! Pour into two bread pans..the pans should be filled about half way +/- Place in a 350* oven for 50-60 mins or until your knife comes out clean! I take out of the pans about 5 mins after they are pulled out of the oven and laid on cooling racks. Doesn't hurt to slice a piece while it is still warm! Enjoy! Ps. You will be able to find this on my recipe blog if you need it later!    Love he...

Stewards Of Our Land

Image
Courtesy of Oregon State Parks Dept.   I know this is a little off the subject but bear with me. Life can go by in a blur when you lose someone in death. And for years it did not occur to me that I had buried (ashes in the ocean) my kids on April Fool's Day. When I put two and two together I thought the Devil sure played a nasty joke on that day. And I find it interesting that it is during a religious holy week for some, don't you? Here is to another year of livin'! ****************************************************************************** As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: -1 Peter 4:10 When you own land God expects you to take care of what He has provided for you to have. Yes, you pay for it but He is the one who has made it available for you plus the means to pay for it. We do not take this for granted. We were grateful and are grateful to be blessed with such a task. In planning this far...

Change In The Air

Image
Good Morning Folks, I am not sure what the weather is like where you are but here this morning it is cold again! 38* and the wind is blowing. Usually means we have a weather front coming. Looking over the weather yesterday they are calling for severe thunderstorms which may or may not include tornado's. You guessed it, we are in the "season" once again. I did see one meteorologist who proclaimed that there has not been one tornado in the whole united states in the month of March thus far. Which is a rarity! He said he had never seen it.....let's hope this isn't the storm that makes up for the lack of tornadoes.   **************************************************************************** Mtn Man has an interview (2 day if everything goes right) come Thursday. We have been praying and praying....all together now everybody say a little one for us please. This new job would bring big changes for the two of us but it would also bring income to pay everything...

Hunting

Image
Not really sure if all farmers/ranchers hunt but we do. We enjoy hunting. The walks in the woods is refreshing even though we do this in the off season anyhow, we still enjoy the woods.  We headed out this morning not early by any means but it was a good time to go. The temp read 22-23* and we had a light breeze. Got to my spot and planted my hiney on a log. I was in a place were I could view all the way around me. Not to much brush just enough to not be seen that well by deer.   Mtn Man walked on to make a circle of sorts to maybe stir up the deer a bit. While I was sitting there in my spot I started talking with "The Man Upstairs". Let me fill ya in a bit, which will take us off track for a minute but I will get back to the story. I have lately been questioning my faith in God, you could say. Wondering if maybe believing in a being that I can't see is really the right way of doing things. Wondering basically if I am a loon as some would say. Being a christian tak...

Grinding Party

Image
Ah, you that have your minds in the gutter come on out! We  had some leftover deer meat that we always leave for grinding so we thawed it out and today we had the folks over for a grinding party! See it is all clean stuff! We ground about 50lbs of deer meat in about 1 1/2 hrs. The ground returned to the freezer and the clean up was easy. We ROOOCCCCKKKK! Even the dogs were in on the waiting party...... Thanks for stopping by! Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson All Photographs Copyright © 2014 M.E. Masterson
