Adventures Of Life!

Whew! What A Weekend! We saw all kinds of folks this weekend. Some repeats and some new. Great visiting with everybody. Installed a bathroom cabinet and faucet at the neighbors farm house with Mtn Man's assistance. Then had supper with them which was a nice change. Tator went home with the InLaws Sunday. Sure he was happy to be back to his own place! Peanut sure misses him... Saturday we went to Pioneer Days here in town was a little disappointed. Let me explain, after installing the bathroom cabinet we came home and changed our clothes. We got there about 3 pm and the festival was folding up. Most of the booths were gone, the band was playing but nothing else going on. They had the parade at 3pm which I can only imagine wasn't all that big but never have heard of it going at the end of a festival instead of the beginning. Worked at the sawmill on Sat. then went for a much needed swim at the creek. Company stayed the night for some much needed R&R at our Serenity Valley (as he calls it, altho I like the name) Sunday Mtn Man worked the rototiller in the garden... I planted turnips. And after a much needed nap we moved the sewing room into the laundry room.... So excited!  The heat is terrible right now... Thank the Lord we haven't had this all summer! k gotta go the Doctor Appt this morning.... Yes, I am a day late on Weekend Updates but in my defense, we were busy working in the garden yesterday trying to catch it up on the weeds. This large of a garden is full time job. Limited day due to heat and humidity leaves us to work it in the morning hours up until about noon at the latest. Then pick up on other chores the rest of the day. On with the weekend...... Saturday we finished the corner posts on the big field. It is ready for fencing now. And then worked in the garden...... Sunday we headed for the lake..... What a gorgeous day we had! We left just in the nick of time. A storm moved in that was a gully washer or as some say down here a frog choker! No, we did not go water-skiing although it would have been fun! This guy was probably about a mile out on the water from us.  Last night more storms moved in that dropped about 6" of rain. It rained all night and just quite a bit ago. Soggy!! I decided to paint my little benches Not a usual color for me to use, but I like it! Have two of them, which will end up out by the fire pit And painted my garden gate too! We had gun church, I don't think this was too bad of grouping for my second time shooting my brand new.380 from about 20 feet. Again Gun Church! Sharpening his skills in the tomahawk throw for rendezvous Pretty Good! A little work was done, moved the smoker to a more level spot, the dog kennel bit closer to the house (pic above), the fire pit to the back of the house closer to our deck area. Mowed everything up and Mtn Man built me a BIG gate to the chicken pen (sorry no pic yet). Of course a wife's duty is never ending, hung laundry on the line. I did find a handy tool for a pulley type line a clip (climbers clip) to hold both lines together which pulls the clothes farther off the ground. Saturday we celebrated Mother's Day at the In laws and had a wonderful time. They put on a Shrimp Boil which is something I had never done before it was a little awkward at first but ended well. Corn, Shrimp, Onion, Potatoes all together in a big heap on some paper bags in the middle of the table.....dig in with your hands! I understand at other shrimp boils everybody eats around the grub with beers on the table and pigs out to their hearts content. We ate off our plates and had a great meal!! Thanks Mom & Dad for the great feed! We ended with a dessert, Ice Cream Cake. This was my first ice cream cake and I was told it was very yummy not much to look at but tasted great!
