This morning Mtn Man mentioned that he would like to get that locust tree in the front yard out of the way while the ground is frozen so we don't make ruts with the tractor. Okie Dokie after a quick run into town to turn in our contract bids we did just that! By the by we should here by the 9th whether we got the bid or not....praying we do. Mtn Man fell the tree and then took the tractor to clean up the mess. It turned out to be a 58 yr old tree no wonder it was falling apart a piece at a time. Me, well not really anything to do but be there in case something happened. We like to be each others support when doing these big projects just in case! I drive by this tree coming out our 8 mile driveway. As I gaze upon it, leaves me wondering if some little girl had a swing on the lower branch? If maybe this tree had a family sit under it to eat their lunch? If this tree could talk what stories it would have to tell! The antelope have moved in for the winter. They are a bit scared but they sure are pretty, maybe I will get the privilege to see their babies when they are born. I have this old pair of boots that did their job for me. I couldn't just throw them out so like my granny used to do I decided to make fence post ornaments out of them. Granny used to take grandpa's corked logging boots and make planters out of them and they would sit up on the fence posts for all to see. She had lots in the yard! Today I thought we would smoke some deer meat that I had thawed out....we slather it in vinegar/butter mix that gives it that golden look and keeps the meat moist on the inside! It should be yummy! Here it is 4 days until Christmas! We received a few gifts today from a friend to put under our tree, which by the way are the first to be under our charlie brown leaning tree! Funny story about our tree, as you may remember we went out and found our tree rather quickly and then in a matter of 15 min had our tree decorated.....yes I hear you laughing , really you should see the tree it is quite hilarious! That evening we went over to a friends house to see the progress on his barn and returned to find the tree fell over! No wonder, we put the tree in loose sandy dirt we dug out of the snow in a rubber bucket and left. Laugh was on us! So now we have it wired to the wall and it has a slight lean to the right.......starts sounding like a Chevy Chase Christmas! Notice we took great care in mixing up the lights!!!! Incidentally we have had hung the two stockings up behind the stove and today it was suggested I move the large stocking as the things inside might melt! Someone put lots...
