Disasters Of Snow Load

Image
Remember these beauties Well???   These shots were taken yesterday. This last picture is a load of customer's wood...thank goodness Mtn Man thought to put another tarp over the top of these inside the wire barns. Will probably be building a more sturdy structure soon as the snow calms down for the year. Mill is under a bit of snow still! ************************************************************************ No one is venturing to far ....I just love the snow. Being prepared (Food, Water, Shelter, Clothes) for these days of snow weather and cold, is what it is all about. May God Bless You Today!! Full Of It!

Image
Wouldn't be the first time I have been told that! LOL! Yesterday we truly soaked up the sunshine! Love it!  My bulbs are peeking out of the ground which means spring is not far off. I was told today another 45 days and things can start going in the garden. Checked the Farmer's Almanac and in my area looks like March 1st is the first day of planting! Wahoo! So what have we been up to....well working at the sawmill!  The guys cut up some logs after trying to get all the kinks out which seems to take more time than planned. Things were going along beautifully until..... A roller wheel went out. The bearings in it decided to give out.....now we wait for another pair to show up in the mail. Just replaced these about two weeks ago...haven't run but maybe 1000 board feet on the new ones. Oh well they are on there way! So the guys decided to start working on the shop. They had cut up enough boards to get going on it. It is starting to take shape. It is slow and...

Shop Return

Image
2011 Christmas time on the ranch in Montana Remember the steering wheel issue(honking horn when you turn the wheel) on the Brown Bomber. We have taken 'er to the shop as of yesterday. The guys there are pretty good guys, reminds me of my younger days in my grandpa's shop. Not quite sure that they skin their deers out in there but dang close I would imagine. Their wood stove is great!! Back to the truck...Mtn Man got the steering wheel off after he bought a special tool to pull it. It was a bit rusty but he got it. Bad bearings was the culprit so he thought. Got it back together enough to drive it straight to the shop because now it has wiring issues(draining the battery) which started when the horn/steering thingy started. And the blower in the truck has been out for a long time and they are willing to tackle that bit of problem.  ********************************************************************************* Not really anything to report on the farm except maybe this...

Wild Wednesday

Image
It was a whirl wind, a flurry of activity!  We awoke early (5:30-6am early)(those that know me know I do not care for early) to start our day. I cleaned house before the sun rose, made 7 layer salad for lunch,  Mtn Man went out and set up the round pen, we ate breakfast had our two cups of coffee sat on the front porch waiting for the folks to arrive. Upon their arrival we unloaded the lawn mower and set MIL off to cut the grass. I attacked the rest with the weed eater! All the while the guys unloaded the pallets that will be used at the mill for lumber stacking. They also went for a jaunt over to the neighbors to talk about trees for lumber and care giving of the local cemetery (right next door). We stopped for a bite to eat, BBQ hamburgers & hotdogs & 7 layer salad. After lunch/dinner(depending on what side of the states you are on) we headed for the mill to cut up logs for tomato stakes. They ended up with about a hundred huge stakes for the...

Last Minute Doin's

Image
Yesterday we headed off to his folks to stay the night so we could head out early this morning with our BIG load. We were able to get our container home with us on the farm today.  We worked on the sawmill today. Fine tuning how it works. Then we went to cutting up the remainder of the logs we had left in the pile. We did quite a bit cut up. I just have to sweep the floors and we are ready for our early morning trip to the hospital for Mtn Man's surgery. Hopefully be home about lunch time....... Copyright © 2014 M.E.
