Goat Pen Updates

Sorry I am late with this post but got kind of busy today! After we got back from work out at the gym we started on the fence project in the pen. Had to baby proof it!! LOL! They figured out how to crawl through the big holes in the fence. I started the other day to get it done but did to much babysittin' to get anything accomplished. I am in love with these babies like no other! So happy God blessed us with two girls.....named them Shade and Sunshine. Had to take a quick break...making enchiladas tonite! So I was saying baby proofing the pen. We ended up using supplies we had available. Lots of chicken wire left so it has been applied. Then I put up 2x4 square wire between the buck and doe pen because the Little Man kept gettin his head stuck. Attention hound!! Mtn Man made doors for the shed too. It looks fabulous! He made a window up top so I could peek in when I want to. I love it! He used scraps and such from other projects and they turned out nice with...

Babies Are Here!!

I am super excited!! Yesterday we went to Cape Girardeau to take care of business. Then went down to visit the Inlaws and niece/nephew who were visiting for spring break this last week. When we arrived home something looked different out in the goat pen. So we drove over to find that Snickers had twins by her side! I missed the whole thing by minutes.... I am so happy they are healthy girls...... Now most of ya know their pen is pretty far from the house which means no electricity out there. Last night the temps dropped below 30*. I was worried worried that they would not be warm enough. But in our defense we had shut the little hut up last night to keep them warm as possible. The other day I had put plastic up on the doorway and pulled it back out of the way for the arriving day. It came in useful yesterday. We put fresh hay in so they wouldn't be laying on wet hay all night. Took the gate off the outside pen and leaned it up against the doorway and strapped it up so they w...

I thought I better catch up on my updates. First the beading project I have been working on. I did get all three projects off the loom yesterday just need to finish tying the ends up. But here is a pic of the last project (twist) This will be up for sale when I get it finished. I am thinking a barrette. ***************************************************************************** Second the goat pen pics....thanks to Mtn Man for going out to take the pics. I am down under the weather today thinking I caught something from my Inlaws who are terribly sick when we saw them on Sunday. Blah!! ****************************************************************************** Third that snow storm did come through with a vengeance. I have heard in places they have as much as 15" snow drifts! We, however, got about as much as 8". It rained all night Tues. night then Wed about mid day turned to sleet (1/2") then couple hours later turned into big snow flakes unt...

No Holds Barred

The cabin fever is no gonna hold us down!!   Yesterday started out cold but it did warm up a bit (40's). Things started melting. I went about my business doing chores. I went out to the goat barn with a bit of hay. I like to give them a bit of fresh (as opposed to the round bales they pick through) every other day only because I tend to give them to much. But it ends up being bedding for them too! I do hope this year we can get some hay racks made for the little barn. Anyhoo, I stood and watched like I do and noticed the buck getting a bit more aggressive with the doe. So much so that she was blocking his butts! He kept at it antagonizing her, pushing her off the food. This worried me because she is so close to having little ones that I went to thinkin'! I came back to the house and talked it over with Mtn Man. He was enjoying his pipe in his "forward command center" (His oversized chair on the front porch). We hashed for about 15 mins and we were off! We gathe...

Goat Pen Updates

They are so much happier!!! That makes four of us.... We got up this morning, hopped into the hot tub and then had a bite to eat. Headed off to work the goat pen. I put the boards from the mill up on the shed(have to have more to finish) and Mtn Man worked on getting the posts in the ground. After I had the boards up went over to help him finish up on his end. Then we added a couple tarps to the roof just temporary. We have tin over at his folks to add to the roof and again more boards are needed. Need to get the mill going for that... All the while it rained on us but we were not gonna let that stop us! I turned on the boombox(yes I am showing my age) with Joyce Meyer blaring to keep us motivated. We had a great time! And we always work well together... WE ROCK!!! will keep ya posted!  If you want to leave a COMMENT please EMAIL me (MARYE.MASTERSON@GMAIL.COM) Love hearing from ya!
