Image
Holy Cow....I didn't know I had so much to share in these last few years......400 posts Wow! Today is no different. We ordered our Christmas cards the other day and they showed up in the mail yesterday. They are so cute! Maybe it is just me but I thought it was great fun! I am not your prepared Christmas gal. I don't usually get these out until the week before Christmas..LOL! This year we have decided to not have a tree but I have a wall of Christmas cards so not all is lost.  FILLING IN AS WE GO! This house is scary to have a tree in it. To many things not right...for example we have run out of outlet room to plug lights in(Mtn Man's fav). Hopefully we can next year......Have a feeling when the lights go up(new house) they will not come down...LOL! To All Our Followers, Family And Friends...... Coconut Cream Pie

Image
Today's Blog I  picked out this recipe here before the cool whip was added This actually was a very simple and easy recipe. Stirring constantly while on the stove was the important part of making this pie. I would recommend making this the night before you want the pie as it has to cool for 4 hrs before adding the cool whip on top. You can find the recipe above but for good measure I will add it to this page 1 C Sweetened flaked coconut 3 C half n half 2 eggs, beaten 3/4 C sugar 1/2 C flour 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 1 (9") pie shell 1 C Cool Whip, thawed Preheat oven 350*....Spread the coconut on a cookie sheet and bake it until golden brown, about 5 mins. In medium saucepan combine half n half, eggs, flour, sugar, salt and mix well. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in 3/4 C of coconut and the vanilla. Reserve the remaining coconut for topping. Pour the filling into a BAKED pie shell and chill...

Post Christmas

Image
Our Christmas this year came in with a BANG! To start a friend of ours broke her leg just above her ankle so she was out of commission for Christmas Supper then we got a message that other friend`s fathers were both in the hospital. His father has heart issues and her father was being sent home for hospice care. When we left Christmas Eve I decided I better pack a bag as we didn`t know if maybe things would progress with either father. What I didn`t know is it wasn`t them we had to worry about, it would be Mtn Man. He had an injury of the knee from this last June from a cow kick and we were in the process of getting a surgeon to fix it. Well Christmas Eve I hear Mtn Man screaming for me and I ran out of the house to find him bouncing around holding up his leg. What happened? He fell out of the truck bed...he was emptying heavy things and one of them caught him and out he came. Blowing out his knee as he fell! Off we flew to the ER to find that he has a broken bone, bl...

Looking for the recipe for today... Look Here  “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” John 1:11-12 Found this link about Christmas.. .Light Reading Copyright © 2013 M.E. Weekend Out!

Image
Saturday night we decided after finishing the deck for the most part that we deserved to go out and have a bit of fun so we headed to the local Winery & Bistro.  Durso Hills Winery & Bistro Quaint little place in the town of Marquand. The actual winery is on the hills to the east of the town and the hangout is in the historic Homan Hall. We had supper and couple drinks which was good. If you are expecting a California Winery experience just tone it down a bit this is Missouri. They had a female singer up in the front of the hall playing for the supper crowd. Very nice place to just hangout! Did find out however that the cook that owned the Hideaway a few years back is now cooking for the Winery. Funny how things are... If you find yourself touring the wineries of Missouri...have to stop in at this one...... Sunday we hit another winery over East of us called the River Ridge Winery in Commerce, Mo. We had fun here! FIL, MIL & AIL, Mtn man and myself went over in ...

I love the hustle and bustle of Christmas! Today I will start the baking for tomorrow's meal, looking forward to all the smells that brings! On our menu this year I decided to make it an International theme. Christmas Bread (Dutch), Patates Spiros (Greece), Potatoes w parlsey & green onions (Italy), Sticky Toffee Pudding (England), Broccoli Salad, Fruit Cake(Harry&David) soaking in Apple Pie(Homebrew) and tomorrow will be a Green Bean Casserole, Rolls(market), Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie(Pilar will do), Sweet Potato Casserole(Pilar will do), Pecan Pie (NM) and Beef Rib Roast (from our ranch-Bobbie Will BBQ).  Well I better get started.......Merry Christmas Everybody! What's for supper at your house?

Musical Christmas Light show from The Clark Family

Image
When we were back in Missouri this last visit we toured some Christmas lights and the folks took us to the Clark Family Christmas Light Show. Which in description is nothing I have ever seen before it was fantastic. It was a show of lights dancing to an array of music of Christmas. All of which happened in Kelso, Mo. not a very big town but fun none the less! Cars line up for 2 miles to see this show...all tuned into FM 89.7 and the brothers spend all year to set this display up for all to enjoy. And yes, donations are welcome which go all go to St. Jude's Children's Hospital!!! Take a gander if you get a chance it is fantastic.... http://www.iluvlocalplaces.com/Christmas_Light_Show_HU1C.html

4 Sleeps until Christmas!

Image
Here it is 4 days until Christmas! We received a few gifts today from a friend to put under our tree, which by the way are the first to be under our charlie brown leaning tree! Funny story about our tree, as you may remember we went out and found our tree rather quickly and then in a matter of 15 min had our tree decorated.....yes I hear you laughing , really you should see the tree it is quite hilarious! That evening we went over to a friends house to see the progress on his barn and returned to find the tree fell over! No wonder, we put the tree in loose sandy dirt we dug out of the snow in a rubber bucket and left. Laugh was on us! So now we have it wired to the wall and it has a slight lean to the right.......starts sounding like a Chevy Chase Christmas! Notice we took great care in mixing up the lights!!!! Incidentally we have had hung the two stockings up behind the stove and today it was suggested I move the large stocking as the things inside might melt! Someone put lots...

Tree Day...

Image
Today was a lovely day with my hubby. He took me out for lunch at the local tasty freeze which was a nice change. Saw quite a few people that we haven't seen in awhile. Then we drove over to check on the horses in the winter range and they still look fat and sassy! We didn't think we were going to have a christmas tree this year, but surprise we went to the woods and found us a tree! A Charlie Brown Tree it ended up being....I think he would be proud! Now to find some presents to put under the tree ???? We decided to take some pics of ourselves in front of the tree and the first one , we laughed at ourselves as we were hiding the tree so we knelt down in front of our tree. Our first Christmas together as a married couple! We are a goofy pair.....at least we can laugh at ourselves.
