Sunday Passage

Image
Saturday after we came home from an estate auction (kin to our neighbors) we went straight to the garden only picking a few peppers that were left. The frost has hit here as I have said before and got the peppers this time. The root vegetables(carrots, beets, turnips) were still in the ground but not anymore. The garden is officially done for the year. Can you believe 6 mos of a garden? 5 1/2 gallons of carrots from a 25 foot row 2.5 gallons of beets and about 4 gallons of turnips Today I will can all the bounty while listening to God's word coming out of the radio. Sometimes I believe God understands we gotta preserve our bounty or feed it to the critters even on his prescribed day. Scripture today: Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 (NIV)   There is a time g for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, h 3 a time to kill i and a time to heal, a time to ...

Goat Shed & A Walk With Dogs

Image
We now have a roof on the goat shed. Some "batting" on the one side, need to cut more lumber for the rest to be installed and the doors need made too. Was thinking of doing a little tutorial on this shed, maybe later in the week. This shed cost us about $50 to build, if we had to buy everything probably would have cost us about $750 or more.  ******************************************************************************* Me and the dogs took off down the drive for a walk that I much needed. Sometimes ya just gotta go!  Of course I took my camera along it is so beautiful here this time of year! Enjoy!  Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig! Fall In The Air

Image
The weather has changed here drastically! Went from high temps in the 90's to now temp in the 50's....today we both commented how it felt like winter in the air(it might have gotten to 60 degrees today but I doubt it).....not pushing for the cold believe you me don't want that yet or at all for that matter. But I really don't mind this fall like weather we are having. Mtn Man is pushing ahead to get his shop built....won't be long and will have the posts in the ground before the frost! We had a storm blow through day before yesterday that brought 2" of rain and in some places it was considerably more. Our garden was running with water.... I went out today to check on the new row of beet seeds and despite the rain they are peeking out of the ground. I was afraid they would wash out....will keep hoping that they all make it! The beans are still coming on so yes, I am still canning....I guess I really won't be done with that until the garden freezes ove...
