We are under a heat advisory in our area. At the present time the temp is about 98 although the weather people say 91, with a heat index of 97, humidity of 49%. Another words, You sweat while standing still ! ******************************************************************************* We installed the insulation on the outside of the root cellar attaching with a spray on adhesive. It worked pretty good. Then put in the drain tile around the container spreading straw on top of that. The tractor pushed the dirt up against the container. We looked inside to see if it was starting to cave and it was holding wonderfully. And the temp was holding great too!  Mtn Man called it quits today due to heat and therapy. This is his last week one more session to do then see the doc on Monday! Will get more peaches tomorrow. Have tomatoes on the front porch that are ripening probably due to can. This qualifies as a dirty job! But it is done....even the top. No we didn't do the doors not sure why but the boss said not to paint them. He painted the one spot on the door to see what this stuff looked like otherwise they will remain green. Next will come the insulation and plastic then we can bury it.. Wahoo! Ps the weather has stopped us today...thunder and lightening (made my hairs stand up) Can you see the sweat and red face? It was in the 90's and 100% humidity!!!  I was covered in that asphalt smelling stuff....threw my clothes away..took gasoline to get it off our skin, dawn soap to get the gasoline off and a warm shower with soap to wash the sweat off! 7 pints roasted salsa verde 7 pints green peppers 3 pints, 8 half pints okra *** 17 qts whole tomatoes, 2 tomato juice **************************** Mtn Man has been shoring up the storage container for burial this will become our root cellar so it does not cave. Using the same principles as mine shaft... or close to it! I think this is much more sturdy. We used our lumber we cut.. so exciting! The outside will be covered in a tar like substance (foundation sealer) to that directly will stick 1/2 inch insulation then cover that with plywood then 6 mil plastic then dirt. Will have more as we progress in next couple days... *********************** Got to go... tomatoes on agenda today!
