For some it is that time of year to think about storing extra....good thinking!! BUT please lengthen your time on that....not too late! Get about 3-6 months worth set back, longer if you can manage it.
Basics::
Flour 25lbs+
Sugar 25lbs+
Cans of Shortening (2-4)+
Baking powder (1)+
Nonfat DRY Milk (1-2 big boxes)+
Store up on water.....bottles, plastic tubs, gallon jugs, etc. Water stores for years!! 4 cases of water per member, stored out of sunlight!
With these basic items you can sustain your family with adding veggies and/or meat to a dish.
Don't forget your critters too....Be sure you have plenty for them as well.
Electric could and will go out! These are important things you need in case that happens....
Candles, matches, oil for lamps, batteries of all kinds, generators if you can, use your thinking noggin!!
Small tent in living room with a candle can heat that space comfortably!! THINK outside the box!!
Paper/Plastic for windows in one room of house to keep cold out...again a candle can heat a small space.
Sleeping bags or lots of heavy blankets, coats, sweaters, socks, mittens, stocking hats...all can be purchased at thrifty stores for cheap!!
Survival is no longer a beauty contest!!
Things very well may get very difficult in the coming months.

Be vigilant, diligent in your survival duties for your family!! NOW is the time, if you haven't done it already.
No need to share what you have so as to keep the thieves from heading to your house.....Be careful!!!
