Let The Chicks Out!

Wahoo! They are free birds finally!!!

First we had to add a bit of chicken wire around the bottom of the fence so we don't hopefully fingers crossed have any mishaps. I can see it now, Peanut is trying to corral them and they are runnin for their little lives oh, not good ending!
Then Mtn Man made a ramp for them that is removable which will happen every night to hopefully keep big critters from getting to the locks.
Then we clipped one wing cause they are flying now. Again for no mishaps! One wing so at least they can still get a little lift when they have to.

Open the door and they were little hesistant to leave but with a little encouragement they left the coup.
It has been so hot they needed to get out of the coup in some real shade where they can peck at bugs and the grass.

Yesterday I worked a bit in the garden again. Only this time I gathered up the row of onions, some of the beets and one kohlrabi. I spent the rest of the afternoon blanching (boiled water on the grill outside as to not heat the house up) all my goods from the garden and decided to freeze everything this go around. After moving 1200 miles I want to get my canner tested first before I use it. Again no mishaps! Maybe next week I can take it down to the County extension office to get it tested.

Cajun Stir Fry

3 pork steaks-center cuts work really good little to no bone- slice into strips
On all these vegies you decide what looks good to you everybody is different when it comes to vegies.
green onions- sliced long ways (julianne)
kohlrabi sliced
broccoli flowers
snow peas
1/4 cabbage-chopped
2 tablespoons or to your taste "Slap Ya Mama" Cajun Seasoning
Oil
Water

Side dish:
Rice
Butter
Water

Get your oil hot, cover your pork strips in the cajun seasoning then add to hot oil. Cook until done thru. Add all your vegies on top of pork strips. Add a tad bit of water in the pan, cover let it steam a bit until the cabbage is done. Take you lid off and stir letting it cook down some more. Oh, while you are cooking all this get your rice going. Back to the mix, when it looks like it is thick and things are browning up a bit you are done. Let it rest for 5 then Serve  and Enjoy!

Last but not least had to do it yesterday. Took Shorty and Peanut on a "cycle" ride... they get itchy too!

Ps... Mtn Man Update ..... He returns to physical therapy on Monday for more intense therapy. They are treating him like a line backer football player. The doc doesn't want to take any chances of letting him go to early. There is a possibility for a second surgery but won't know for a bit yet. Next appt is end of July.

Ok gotta go find a swimming hole to get into..... heat rash is about to drive me more crazy than I already am!
